Wrong. I don't believe in all this defund police, let's talk about it, hugs instead of guns horseshite. I'm just tired of no real and permanent solution being pursued. At some point we have to address the root cause is all.

Yes but that was in 2018 ... who knows what it is now but it's worth it imo
And YES to the if we kept that money that went to Ukraine.

And Dan Bongino had a segment where he talked about a report done after the Columbine shooting ... with safety measures and all kinds of recs/suggestions and what not. I can't understand why some haven't been done in some places.

This point cannot be emphasized enough.
Accomplishing security doesn’t help the anti gun agenda.

Obviously I don't know what set this fricker off so I can't say specifically. Generally though, I really don't know. I do think we need to understand why folks are now so prone to go do harm to others like this whether it is a school, a church, a grocery store, etc. No it isn't guns themselves either. That's just the how and not the why.

Personally, I don't like the idea that kids have to go to a fortress because we have fricksticks running around killing people and we can't figure out another way to prevent it. For the record, I am not a counseling, social work type guy.
We have to send our kids to a fortress because we make gun free zones. It’s literally like shooting fish in a barrel for a psychopath. I’ve said it before. Same guy with a knife, sword, can of gas/lighter, hatchet, you name it can accomplish what this guy did.
I feel like a broken record here but I’ll say it again, if you (the school in this case) take away a group of people’s right to defend themselves from the threat of lethal force then the onus is on you to secure and protect them.

There are similar systems in use at schools in Baton Rouge. They don’t use smoke, but they give police real time access to cameras. It allows teacher to text to location of the intruder.
I don’t remember the name of the company but it was started by a former BR police chief and his son.

If we can't count on armed cops to protect us, then we need to protect ourselves with guns.

Agree. I'm just saying this continual hardening of schools may not be the answer is all. Maybe folks should be allowed more freedom to protect themselves and offered some qualified immunity when they do.

This is a truth that should be self evident to everyone but somehow there are some who don't get it

We can start with free donuts and coffee served at each school for cops.

Why are the students holding books in front of their faces?

I have a free first step.
Create an environment where kids aren't afraid to report shiat. One of my kids was getting abused by another kid and didn't say anything because
1. he was afraid it would make it worse
2. the kid was black and was worried about "racism"
3. the kid was the son of a coach
4. when he would report it, nothing ever happened
When we finally noticed something was up, I was able to get him to tell me what's up. He said he had reported it to counselors and teachers and nothing was done. In fact, what happened was his worst fear... if someone talked to the bully, they NAMED my son as reporting him. WTF.
I took this to the principal and superintendent and may have implied it was worth a story. Within a day, they contacted me and had reviewed video and proven out my son's accusations. This kid was suspended and when he came back, ultimately was expelled for repeated behavior. A true piece of fricking shite.
This happens all too often. Kids are afraid to report stuff, and if they do, nothing happens. So they just don't bother. Things get worse, and kids hurt themselves or someone else. And then you've still got the a-hole bullies in schools.

I think our current culture has caused inaction too. Saw it first hand a few weeks ago with a welfare check on a friend. Police showed up, rang doorbell and when no answer stood around escalating the issue back to headquarters. We were like go around back and basically had to pressure them to do so. When they did, they found him alive, and broke a window to get to him. I overheard patrolman being grilled by a lieutenant as to whether or not breaking the window was necessary. It was obvious in the whole interaction police were worried about liability as much as anything else.

Kinda sucks that this is even needed

Agreed.
The more i read up on this demented piece of trash the more i lean towards thinking it was only a matter of time. the tool he used is irrelevant.
no present father. drugged up mom. no real family support system. no friends. picked on at school for a lisp and wearing mascara. lived on the internet.

They say $400,000 in the video. Thinking if a company mass produced for every school, better technology today, price could stay roughly the same....
Just an FYI - if we took the $40B we sent to Ukraine, we could have one of these in every public school (97,650 of them) in the country
There are 40 schools in my kids' ISD, that's $24mil at cost. Would be hard for the ISD to argue they don't have the funds considering.

Some of which would rather eat a chimichanga and wear a cowboy hat to look cool while the school gets shot up.
