Unless she just came home from her shift....that's kind of fricked up that she doesn't appreciate him enough to feed him.

Yeah that dude has it rough. When he tells her he pays for everything and she can't even keep food in the house and her response was "that's what your supposed to do" my blood pressure spiked. I'd be kicking her to the curb real quick. Poor guy probably can't afford to leave her, though.

It is. My wife gets awfully pissed when I tell her we're no more than roommates at this point, but it's true. If it weren't for the kids, I really would have no reason to stay.

That sucks man. Definitely time to get out if this is the way you feel.

It doesn't have to be, and isn't for everyone.

But if it is for you then its time to move on.

"That's what you're supposed to do"

It is, in the world where the woman has good cooking for when he gets home.

The word equity needs to be used and discussed in long term relationships / marriages.

Lots of women out there with this mentality. Like for real, provide and protect cause that’s what you supposed to do? Bitch, you supposed to bear children and be a homemaker. That’s the deal if you want part 1.

Glad I dodged a bullet with one of them and married a team player with career aspirations and desire to give it 50/50.

"Somebody tell me, oh
Won't you tell me?
Why I work so hard for you
Give you money
Work to give you money (oh)
Some people work for a living
Some people work for fun
Girl, I just work for you
They told me marriage was a give-and-take
Well, you've shown me you can take, you've got some giving to do
And now you tell me that you're having my baby
I'll tell you that I'm happy if you want me to
But one step further and my back will break
If my best isn't good enough, then how can it be good enough for two?"

even for the ones that it isnt, it's not worth the risk. the chances that you are going to end up in a miserable situation with your children and money held over you like a guillotine blade are much higher than the chances that you end up in a mutual happy and supportive marriage.

If the woman says the man’s responsibility is to provide a living for the family, then what is her responsibility?

There has to be some sort of equitable exchange in return for the guy working 50-60 hours a week and paying for expenses.

This is the man's fault, he 100% accepts that kind of marriage.
