American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations to prevent SIDS:

Keep soft objects, loose bedding, or any objects that could increase the risk of entrapment, suffocation, or strangulation out of the baby's sleep area. These include pillows, quilts, comforters, sheepskins, blankets, toys, bumper pads or similar products that attach to crib slats or sides.

Do not let your child fall asleep on nursing pillows or pillow-like lounging pads. The CPSC warns? that babies may roll over onto their sides or stomachs and turn their heads into the soft fabric.

@libsofttiktok is where the picture comes from. I would venture to guess this is staged to invoke an uproar and a response from people like the OP.

Good SIDS candidate right there

The reason bumpers were taken dowm..an infant lacks the diaphragm strength to inhale/exhale with something as close as 3 inches of their mouth. Leads to asphyxiation.

Stomach sleeping is now also not recommended .

There is a video somewhere where theybuse water vapor to show you how turbulent the air is near an infants mouth if there is something close to it.

Putting a mask on am infant is a terrible idea. I'd have to bust down the glass of a nursery doing that to my child. Maybe call 911 to report child endangerment.

Yes, I know I can be dramatic sometimes (the Dingo thing is a joke), but that face mask is very capable of smothering an infant. It’s millions of times more likely to kill a newborn infant than Covid if you want to use that as the bar.

instead of the “stop being dramatic” tactic our COVIDIANS of the OT have gone with in this thread. You’re going with the “misinformation” / deep fake tactic ehh? i respect your creativity.

No different than leaving a loaded revolver on a coffee table in front of a young child.

More, since an infant will neither be able to reach the coffee table or have enough strength to hold the gun and pull the trigger.

Might as well smother the poor wean with a pillow.

What from this picture indicates that they will be keeping the baby in the mask beyond taking a cringey picture?

They already put a mask on a new born. These people clearly aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Will be unsurprised to hear of a SIDS death follow up to this story.

Babies don't vomit Ribeyes. The milk will leak out of the side of the mask or get absorbed. Calm down.
But, I do agree that this is absolutely ridiculous. The parents are lunatics.

Wait, you’ve had drunk friends who drowned in their vomit?

Yeah, and how is the baby going to breath with a mask drenched in vomit?
