This momo hoax on social media is almost directly out of a Southpark episode

It’s titled “Child Abduction is not Funny”
The premise is that parents will believe and push any asinine message when they get it from a news source regarding their children. Whether it’s from cable news or social media, parents breathe life into the fallacy by completely freaking the frick out about it.
Of course this whole momo hoax would never have happened if parents wouldn’t shove a phone or tablet or iPad or the like in front of their kids’ faces 24/7 in the first place.

Of course, Mr. Kim vs. the Mongols is the best part of the show.

You know what? This cop out is ridiculous. “Shoving tablets and devices in kids faces 24/7” “you don’t take time for your kids.” Blah blah blah.
What did you do as a kid for entertainment? Did you watch tv? Did you go outside? Did you play with toys? Played video games?
That’s what my kids do too as well and they have tablets to play on and watch YouTube. What’s the difference between watching something on YouTube and you sitting on the couch without a tablet in their hand and watching tv when you were a child?
Different programming and different types of entertainment. My kids watch what other people play on video games and shite like that. I don’t give them their tablets to “get them out of my hair.”
Tablets have helped tremendously with their education. Has helped them to learn to read at a much faster pace.
My kids also go outside. They also play video games. They do plenty of other things as well. So many people make this comment so “tablets can babysit your kids.”

Wait so the whole thing didn’t even exist? Had a lady at work telling me yesterday how her son called her crying because he saw this on YouTube and it was telling him to kill himself. Guess that didn’t actually happen

To add, i asked my kids about Momo. They’re 6 and 8. They love YouTube. I know what they’re watching.
6 year old: oh yeah, I’ve seen that. It’s creepy but it’s stupid. I just go to another video.
8 year old: yeah, I’ve seen that. It’s so stupid and fake.
Did i really need to go any further with that conversation?

They like to watch YouTubers that react to stuff. Mostly video game stuff. Momo was some viral thing in 2018 and one of the guys that’s he watches did a react to it.
They both said they’ve seen similar videos and both of them spoke foreign languages. They both know it’s fake. Like 95% of everything else on the internet like i taught them.

Not with your kids, but obviously it's not fake if your kids saw it, like people are suggesting. And everyone is different. So I don't see why people are bitching about parents not wanting their kids to watch it.

Well, for one, I wasn’t watching tv for hours upon hours. And two, if I was watching tv, that meant it was in the living room where there would’ve been at least one parent home controlling the remote. So I wouldn’t be watching mindless shite. I never saw anything like Barney or telletubbies in my house growing up, wanna know why? Because parenting didn’t consist of plopping jr. in front of a screen and letting him watch mind-numblingly stupid assed characters act senselessly for hours upon hours and getting zero brain stimulation.

There was an 11 page thread on it yesterday and nobody could find a single of those videos where this momo thing was supposedly spliced in.

I did all that shite. The SEC censored everything and if someone said ‘bitch’ on TV it was a big deal. The most violent video game I remember playing as a kid was Mike Tyson’s punchout. And it’s not like I’m 50, I’m 38. Goldeneye came out around the time I was graduating high school and became too old for video games, and that’s the first first person shooter game with any reality I can remember.

They can. But they don’t. I monitor what they watch as much as I can. I understand that there are videos that slip through the cracks and that’s the issue right now.
But OP should be careful when he gets off his high horse. It’s a long fall.
