You can comment all you want, but that doesn't mean that people with more experience than you have to take your comments even remotely seriously

Ok, so me commenting on the fact that sticking an electronic in front of your child is not good for them means that I’m a moron?

Then I guess I’m a moron.

You can't reason with parents, don't even try

The argument that you can't have valid opinions on what can be good or bad for a child, just because you don't have a child is one of the worst arguments that people make, but you won't convince them otherwise.

Sure.

But even the best parents are lazy parents at times. It happens. It happened to your parents, it happened with my parents, and it will happen when/if you become a parent.

That is why nobody takes your comments seriously. It lacks any type of context.

I watched something about this yesterday, but an even more fricked up thing is women who are on their periods, wiping the blood on their face and taking pics, or vidz of it.

Feminists are so fricking stupid that they are bored and try to create even dumber shite.

They are called, "Period Facials" And yes, it's not so good looking white women doing it, as usual.

I'm not saying you can't have an opinion but arguing about parenting with a bunch of parents while you don't yet have a kid is a bad look

Their whole argument is like saying you can’t comment on slavery if you’ve never had slaves. Or you can’t comment on communism unless you’ve lived in a communist state. Or you can’t comment on Islam unless you’re an Islam.

It’s ridiculous.

It’s asinine. So I should just never have an opinion on something unless I’ve got first hand experience myself?

It also implies that any experience is good experience, ignoring the fact that there are plenty of shitty parents out there.

Again, you can comment. You can have opinions. Nobody says you can't.

But you should probably defer to people that lived in times with slavery, or people that have lived in communists states, or people that have actually practiced Islam when it comes to down to it.

Experience and context matters, don't you agree?

Of course I agree with that. However, that does not mean that what I’m saying is wrong.

Nobody said it was wrong.

Well...technically what you said was wrong, because moral panics have and will continue to happen, no matter the platform.

Agree. That doesn’t mean that Southpark wasn’t correct in their assertion that they’re almost always ridiculous and overblown.

But Prominetown came in with the assertion that seemed to me like he was saying that I couldn’t comment because I don’t have kids.

Absolutely. SP nailed it.

That comes from the position that your blanket statement and judgement lacks understanding and context. Like I said, even the best parents are lazy at times. It happens. You cannot watch and/or monitor your kids actions at all times, which is why these moral panics are just that...panics. Because parents don't know what their kids are doing at all times.

Basically you are the 50 year old mechanic screaming that we need to throw the ball on the TR.

It's a true statement, but it isn't always that easy to actually execute.

Yes they did. Wtf are you talking about?I can start linking you to Saturday morning cartoons. 80s sitcoms. Nickelodeon beginning in the early 90s.

The differences between TV of the 80s/90 and tablet of today connected to the interwebs:

1. The viewing was typically in a common area
2. It was not easily manipulated to get to some really bad stuff without adults being aware.

Any tablet connected to the interwebs is just a few clicks away from a number of bad stuff for kids. Plus the tablet being a personal device, it would be hard to see what they are doing without looking right over their shoulder.

Don’t get me wrong, tablets/technology etc is great but today’s technology can quickly lead to trouble if you give your kids extended unsupervised access.

Tablets also lead to issues needing instant gratification for entertainment but that is another issue all together.
