Are you so obsessed with little brother that you can’t just appreciate that they are honoring fallen soldiers that have attended the university on a day set aside for that?

The university of Louisiana is the only school left in Louisiana where you can get a real degree. LSJW only gives out diversity degrees now

The push has always been to brand the entire university as UL, and I know this first hand from having had conversations with Joey Durel about this very topic...and he couldn't have been a bigger bitch about it.
Unless you're suggesting that most locals do not now refer to the university as UL even when not talking about athletics?
Whatever you thoughts on their rebranding (I'm an alumnus and I always hated the idea since my diploma from there reads University of Southwestern Louisiana and was proud of that name) to suggest there is not a HARD PUSH to have the entire thing referred to as UL is just a lie.
Why not simply own it and be done with the bullshite?

They aren't even trying to hide it. It all started when former Gov. Blanco wanted to make ULL the flagship university.

Why do LSU fans care so much about what ULL calls themselves? Just about every state has a University of _____ and a _____ State University.

I don't think LSU gets upset about it. It's more ULL fans that so desperately want to be called UL that get butthurt when you don't call them by that name. It is the definition of Big Brother vs Little Brother and teasing little brother until he cries.

I care because I'm a USL alumnus...or was that not clear when I typed it out in the post you're responding to?
I also dislike intellectual dishonesty, and I know this is what this is because I had a discussion about "the plan" with the man who would be a two time City/Parish President.
Own it and be done with it...but pretending this was not a long term goal of those who pushed this name change through is far more childish than any LSU fan butthurt over the name change of a university that poses no threat to it in any way.

Why don't ULM fans get upset about ULL taking the UL name and running with it? The way I see it, they have just as much right to it as ULL. Maybe they just don't care here in Monroe. I guess when you beat a few upper tier SEC schools under the ULM brand, zero fricks are given since I promise people in Tuscaloosa, AL know exactly who ULM is.

I didn't start the thread I was just commenting since it is the main discussion on this thread. The ONLY time I ever think of ULL is the few times we play them in a meaningful sporting event (NIT being the most recent if you consider that meaningful and not events like mid-week baseball games). Other than that, only threads like this really bring it up. It's similar to Ohio State fans/players saying they are "THE" Ohio State. No one cares but them.

If USL can go from being The University of Southwestern Louisiana to The University of Louisiana at Lafayette to The University of Louisiana
Then SLU should get in on this name change game. By UL-L’s logic SLU should call themselves UL-H or just The University of Southeastern Louisiana, or let them pick and call themselves whatever the frick they want.

I do agree that there was no point in taking a nice sentiment from the university about fallen soldiers and turning it into a ULL or UL debate BUT since we are here, I may as well chirp in.

That was pretty good but the LSU fans were mistaken about the relationship. ULL is actually LSU's little (red-headed) step brother. LSU's only biological brother (Tulane) passed away prematurely in the 80s.
