You might want to get a new calculator.

So in those cases, after parentheses and exponents, go from left to right.
Go from left to right BUT still taking into consideration that multiplication and division to be performed prior to any addition or subtraction.

PEMDAS must have stopped being taught at some point.
It's been replaced by Common Core. That is, when classes aren't halted for the latest white privilege protest.

Damn, I came up with 3^2.

Hopefully you work at McDonald's and don't have to actually put your brain to work on a regular basis.

I tried solving it several different ways, and 9 was the only answer I was able to come up with.It should have been written properly though.

Sorry for the confusion.
1. Parentheses.
2. Exponents.
3. Multiplication/division from left to right.
4. Addition/subtraction from left to right.
Or, while you're out protesting over white privilege, find one of the Asians to do your homework for you.
And if she's fairly attractive, remember what I learned here at TD: "Once you go Asian, you'll never go Caucasian"

What about when someone comes in and asks for 9 hamburgers? Requires counting. How many halves does 9 hamburgers require? How many onions??

It is written properly. Where are you people coming up with this nonsense?

How do you even get 3 as an answer??? I dont see any way I could incorrectly manipulate the order of operations and get 3
. Answer is obviously 9

When you order 9 hamburgers from McDonalds, you better count that shite before leaving. There's a good chance they screwed up the count on anything over 4.

Not to mention that most of them will have your order wrong.
My local McD's is terrible. I ordered a hamburger with only shredded lettuce. I got exactly that--a bun with only shredded lettuce (no "meat").

People have already explained that,in this thread. The answer is 9.

Explained what? There is no possible way to get this wrong if you aren't terrible at math. Parentheses would be redundant.
ETA: Downvoted by someone that would answer this problem with 3.
