Everything will be ok. My dad passed away 3 years ago and I kept trying to talk my mom into selling the house. When she finally did, she felt so peaceful

My thoughts go out to you. Losing a spouse in a happy marriage has to be one of the hardest and most brutal thing a person can go thru. Maybe the only equal would be losing a child.

I haven’t read the responses but I just came to reassure you that there’s no shame in the way you are feeling. Continue to vent any way and anywhere you feel comfortable doing so. I can’t imagine your pain, but I can assure you that over time it will get better to a certain point that is much improved from what you feel right now. No one should have to deal with what you and your children are dealing with, but continue to be strong for them. It seems like you are doing a great job. God bless you and your family.

Damn, that hits hard. I get angry with God because I’m still single. Losing the love of your life is tragic. Praying for your family.

It’s been 18 months now since i lost my wife of over 35 years to her third bout with cancer. Yet it still seems like a dream that happened yesterday. I have moved - youngest daughter and i bought each others house-, been down to btr several times to visit both our families, and i tey to see my grandkids every day. Nothing fills the void, and i still have days filled with tears. It all helps, but there is no cure. Keep moving forward, raise y’all’s kids and take care of yourself, do what she would want you to. It doesn’t get easier, not gonna lie, but you will learn how to cope more with each passing day. Above all, keep your eyes and heart on the cross. God bless you brother in the same boat.

Talk to your wife everyday she's listening
Time does heal but never forgets
Don't try and stop your emotions let it rip...its part of healing/coping
Sounds like you have others around you that love you...lean on them

I forgot to add since she passed away the bedroom lamp has been on. I didn’t want her to be in the dark. Tomorrow night the room will be dark…and that hurts a lot.

Make the lamp the last thing you take from the house. When you unplug the lamp to leave, ask her if she is ready to go.
You don't have to leave her there. Take her with you. Our spirits are eternal.

It's just incredible how life passes you by, and as you get older, the years seems to just fly by. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Prayers for you.

I have shared this often, with folks of many denominations. It is from my tradition and has been a great comfort to me and many dear friends. Soldier on my friend, in her name:

The departed whom we now remember have entered into the peace of life eternal. They still live on earth in the acts of goodness they performed and in the hearts of those who cherish their memory. May the beauty of their life abide among us as a loving benediction.

I’m sorry about your wife.

I pray for your peace. May those items you find bring you joy.
No one can take away your memories.
I’m completely serious.

Furthermore, buy a scanner and digitize everything you can.
