The Associated Press
@AP
78,000 pounds of specialty infant formula has arrived in Indianapolis on a military plane. It's the first of several flights carrying formula from Europe expected this weekend to help relieve the deepening U.S. shortage.

This is something you’d expect for some banana republic or sub Saharan shite hole

I have never in my life seen a headline like this with America as the recipient. That’s something historians should investigate. When was the last time we needed to be airlifted goods?

What a humbling moment for us.

Blame the dairy industry and the 17.5% tariffs they lobbied Congress to put on foreign baby formula.

It's socialism. With socialism there's is no supply because there is no incentive to supply.

Seems like it would be a whole lot easier and cheaper to fly it in from all those warehouses on our Southern border?

Maybe you should have considered this before pulling the lever for Biden you stupid motherfricker. Are you so dense that you didn't see this coming? I'm no Mensa member but I foresaw supply chain disruptions and runaway inflation from the moment the last fraudulent vote was counted.

Why is there only ONE facility for making the stabilizer needed for the formula? (Abbott nutrition)
Why did the USFDA shut it down?
Why isn't a back up in place?

Why don't women breastfeed anymore?

You'll really go to any lengths to shift the blame for this, won't you?

It’s literally nothing more than what others have been saying in this thread, namely the rigging and/or hamstringing of the free market to hinder it from doing what it should be doing, specifically to provide goods at lowest prices possible.

I’m just naming the bad actors responsible. And blame should be given, though not exclusively, to the dairy industry for getting the government to protect them at the expense of consumers.

Edit: I see we’ve got some free marketeers of the protectionist persuasion in this thread.

All valid questions.

But this isn’t nearly that simple. Some women legitimately don’t produce enough milk, some babies have issues with tongue-tie and can’t latch, etc. The “Breast is best” movement has been big in the last few years so women who can definitely are doing it.

You are blaming people who lobbied to get favorable treatment for their industry, but not Congress. They should have lobbied for 100% tariffs, however, it's up to congress to say "no". I suppose one really should not expect them to pass up campaign contributions.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. They’re both responsible in their own ways.

If some random dude asked your wife to suck his dick and she did, would you be pissed at him for asking or her for doing it?
