The pictures, man. Hold one up from 2000 and one in 2019, and they look similar. One from 1970, amd it looks like a different planet.

That 70s Show premiered in 1998. Using that same timeline, we could have a That 90s Show now.

Hopefully the roaring 20’s can establish its own identity and be remembered distinctively.
I predict another general European war in the 20s. Europe has been too peaceful for far too long. They’ve never been this peaceful for this long in their entire history.

What I do know is, in one more year I can go to my 50 year high school graduation reunion------if so inclined.
Oh, and I do the math from the current year, not 2000.

I was born in 1990 so it is pretty easy for me to understand that it was almost 30 years ago!

I calculate from 1990 because that’s the year I was born, so it’s pretty easy as long as I can remember my age.

This. As someone who lived through the 70s, 80s, amd 90s, I remember each decade having its own feel and style that was very distinct from the one before. But, at least from my perspective, the 00s and 10s have no discernible difference from one another.
Jesus. You are "old times were better" about literally everything.

common core math sucks

Post is ironic, considering this kind of mathematic illiteracy is exactly what common core is built to fix.

No because I know how to do math.

I didn't take it as knowing math. I took it as when you were born.

Yep. I graduated high school in 1990. It doesn't seem that long ago.

It didn’t really hit me until a few months ago when they were playing Alice In Chains- Rooster on a classic rock station.

Sitting around last night under the influence with a younger gent who sells his product on a need to know basis, I mentioned for some reason, Who shot JR?
He clearly had no idea what that was and I realized I am old as dirt and didn't know it.

True. Socially the smartphone changed everything but the two decades are almost interchangeable when it comes to style.

This must be a baby boomer thing. This doesn’t make any sense to me.

What do you mean? I was born in 1986..I don't think I'm 14.
Why would anyone use 2000 as an arbitrary # to decide how long ago any number of years was? That's fricking stupid.

I'm not saying that

I meant that people like you and me, born in mid to late 80s, 2000 was when we started coming of age so it's an easy starting point when thinking back in terms of years. When you're a kid you romanticize decades before you that you didn't live so I took this as an extension of that. 1970 to 2000 seems longer than 2019 to 1989 because I lived and remember most of the later. 1970 is foreign to me.
I didn't take it as 2000-1970 being easier math, but I could be wrong
