but attendees are getting info in their welcome packets about staying in groups in FQ and avoid real late hours.

Plenty of restaurant suggestions uptown, lakeview, and Jefferson Parish only a short Uber away.

thats a damn shame.....If I were these conventions I wouldnt even pick NOLA as a destination until the City or State does something.

100% the thug behavior is bleeding over into hurting Tax Payers. That's the only reason I care. Keep that shite in NOLA East and I don't care one bit.

Agree, shut down the 2 bridges over the Industrial Canal after dark.

There is a big, fat, dark elephant sitting in the room and it's going to have to be addressed. Not just in NOLA, nationally.

The thing is, we're not allowed to address it. We're not even allowed to acknowledge it.

We COULD address it peaceably, but, obviously that won't be allowed to happen. As much as I hate to say it, this elephant WILL eventually be addressed, as all things are inevitable; and it will, unfortunately, probably be under violence.

The criminal elements are not attracted to the businesses they are attracted to the tourists. If your solution to the problem is shutting it down then the businesses will go away. Is that the best solution? No.

This...

They arent....nothing has changed

Doesn’t add up to this...

quote:

the only thing that has changed is the thugs have moved their shenanigans out of the ghetto's and into the Quarter/CBD

That’s a pretty big change. Just last month, a woman (tourist) from Alabama was killed by a thug right where this fight occurred. She was punched and died from her head the pavement. Police and DA only charged the pos with manslaughter. He’ll probably spend a few years in jail and will be back on the streets in no time.

That shite needs to be dealt with if the city really wants to see tourists pouring back in. I'm not sure who's going to do that at this point.

Not sure if you saw my post earlier in this thread about Billy Nungessor, one of Walk On's founders and a few other business leaders tried to talk to Latoya about some ideas and she shut them down.

It's like she wants the Quarter to burn..i dont get it....and it's like the NOPD doesnt want to step on her toes

Those burnouts can be dangerous. Several people got killed outside Memphis, TN years ago.

I've asked this question over and over and can never get an answer.

Where is the local media to ask the tough questions of the Mayor, Council and Police Chief? Why wont anyone hold them accountable.

Nothing change until the media blows this up

Not sure what they are scared of or what they are waiting on.....

Statues that have stood peacefully for decades must not have been the problem...I'm sure the Democratic politicians will figure this out...kind of like Portland!

One day people will understand....

I'll spell it out; The police chief has a boss. The boss is called the mayor.

The cops out on the streets do what their chief tells them to do. If the mayor doesn't want cops cleaning up the FQ the chief gets this instruction and it is passed down to those on the street.

Police do not work independently.

Well the obvious problems were just spread out more to Houston and Baton Rouge! Share the wealth I guess!
