How about a fake gun that has a small puff of smoke and little flame out the barrel but no actual bullet. Dub the sound.

That's basically a blank. Lower amount of powder, no projectile.

Its virtually impossible to kill someone on a set with a firearm, yet Baldwin did.

I don't think there is anyone who doesn't think he's at fault here at some level. I mean, you don't hold a real gun up and point at anyone if you haven't checked the chamber for the right ammo, real or blank. It's common sense.

It’s getting hard to avoid the triggered Baldwin folks, there’s three threads just on the first page

How property managers aren't damned near psychotic over examining both the firearms (see: Brandon Lee) and the ammo going into them (as they are being pointed at people) is a problem unto itself.

One would think, but when there is large group of people who think guns spontaneously kill people and there is zero human component to it, things like this happen. It's why you don't have droves of hunters committing gun crimes. They're taught to respect the weapon. This was drilled into me as soon as I could walk.

Baldwin is an unstable idiot, so yes I could see him accidentally shooting himself in the head.

It seems like the opinions on who is ultimately responsible for the shooting is split between those who are used to being around guns & have a full understanding & respect for gun safety vs those who aren't. While those hired to prepare the weapons should share the blame, ultimately if the gun is in your hand, it's on you. The only exception I can think of is if there was a malfunction of the weapon.

100%

Safety minded people realize this never ever should have happened.

Ignorant people posting about firearm safety is absolutely hilarious.

It's purely hypothetical and largely irrelevant.

Alec Baldwin as an actor won't be facing any changes. Alex Baldwin as producer very well might.
