This is a very damning statement concerning the Alec Baldwin tragedy

TBH the part about him hiring a young inexperienced armorer to say a few $$$ is more damning. Just my opinion though.

If established safety protocols in the film and stage industry would have been followed, that would have happened by several people even before the gun would have been handed to him and he would have felt safe even doing that.

Yes, I tend to agree. The more I hear about the tragedy, the worse Baldwin’s actions become.

At first, I was of the opinion that an actor can’t be held criminally responsible for a gun accident, but now… Not So Fast, my friend! I think criminal negligence is back in the discussion.

Damn journalists are ruthless.

I’m not a Baldwin fan but if you read the affidavits from yesterday from the witnesses, I think it makes him look less guilty and just wrong place at the wrong time

With today's technology and special effects, I'm amazed they're still using real guns on set. Even if it's supposed to fire blanks or whatever, I just don't get it. How about a fake gun that has a small puff of smoke and little flame out the barrel but no actual bullet. Dub the sound.

Stupidity and amazingly dumb

So I have seen a bunch of "opinions" on who is at fault for this gun firing, and at some point you have to put some form of ownership on the person who pulled the trigger, not once but twice.

The first thing you are taught when going to a firearm training is that you check the weapon is clear before handling anyting else. Even if you know the gun is empty, you check yourself to make sure and don't take someone elses word on it.

Do i feel bad that this happened, yes. Do I place blame on the fact that the person who pulled the trigger did not perform simple due dilligance so this could be avoided, yes. Do I also place blame on the person who brought a loaded weapon on a movie set, yes.

If i can urge all persons to get a basic firearm safety course and become diligant when around guns, this would be case #1 for that argument. Someone who is around prop weapons for the better part of his life, on movie sets should have been taught to check the gun at any cost because shite like this is bound to happen when you get complaicent around "prop" guns.

Gun safety starts with the guy (or gal) pulling the trigger. Baldwin should have checked the chamber before shooting the scene.

Why don’t we all stop wanting to burn someone at the stake.

What should be taught instead of cancelling guns or crucifying actors is basic gun safety.

1: verify what stage of fire the mutha F’kr is in!!!! Is it loaded? Is it clear? If it is loaded, what the hell is in the magazine?

2: don’t point the shite at mutha fuk’rs unless you, as the gun holder, is 100% sure real rounds ain’t coming out

3: if real rounds by some chance are being actually used, don’t point the weapon at something unless you intend to destroy it and keep your booger finger off the bang switch.

Did he pull the trigger of a loaded gun?

The blank is not the issue. The real gun that has the ability to shoot a real bullet is what shouldn't be on set imo.

It amazes me how live rounds can find their way onto sets at all.

I grew up with guns and learned at an early age to respect them. How property managers aren't damned near psychotic over examining both the firearms (see: Brandon Lee) and the ammo going into them (as they are being pointed at people) is a problem unto itself.
