they didn't deduct the proper amount on his daily double. He said "5.....thousand" and got it wrong. They only deducted $5.

I saw that too. It was hard to make out what he said over the applause, but it seemed odd he would only say $5 when he had been betting $4000 and $6000 on all the other Daily Doubles for the past 8 days.

It sounded like he said "five, Alex."

Subtitles are wrong all the time, so that saying "$5,000" doesn't mean shite.

It is weird that he'd only wager five dollars though, so who knows.

Watched this dude today. I hated the gay dude in the middle. He annoyed the shite out of me. Also liked how the other two contestants tried to jump around on the board. That was funny.

And I definitely like how Matt cuts off Alex's bullshite. I like Trebek, but he's wasting time when he does that shite.

He jumps around for Daily Doubles too which pisses off a lot of watchers but it is a smart strategy.

What's the strategy behind that?

get an early lead
prevent others from getting daily doubles, which would allow them to catch up

Matt is the best player I have ever watched "live"during his run. I caught some of jennings run here and there and have seen him in multiple tournaments since his original run, but I was a little young for true jeopardy enjoyment. Same with Rutter who I have as the current GOAT. Has only lost to a human once and it was when he came in third against Watson and Jennings.

Roger would be next for me. Then probably some variation of Arthur, ben, Julia, and Colby. Heavy recency bias but oh well. Great runs stick out.

I started DVRing it to watch this guy. His smile looks as though someone gave him a technical explanation of what a smile is, and he tried his best to replicate it. Totally dominated today, but his competition seemed to be defeated from the start.

I think he just has the timing of the clicker down to an art.

He's good for sure. I don't think he's as good as Craig, though.

And they were stupid hard yesterday with probably the easiest Final Jeopardy question I've ever seen...Indiana Jones, this would have been a $100 question if asked during the first round.

This. It's like an extension of his arm

He seems to take no joy in his awesomeness, either, just a job.

Watching now. I won't spoil anything long term, but at one point he had answered like one question correctly in the first ten and was negative while both female players were beating him.

And I fricking LOVE how terrible he is at the sports questions. Like he wasn't even trying to buzz in for them while even the chick was getting some right.
