Anybody who got beef with Huey Lewis got beef with me.

He was the Mike Rowe of 80s rock.

But the caption she put on the video is stupid because Michael Jackson is possibly the most famous singer/ entertainer of all time, and if wasn't for Cyndi Lauper's ridiculous hair then nobody under 30 today would even recognize any of the other 3.

1985. No wonder it looked so old.

Very much so.
We are the World was the American attempt at a song like Do They Know It's Christmas.
While marginally OK, it just failed, IMO, on all genres it was trying to bring together. I would give the song about a 5 out of 10, so it wasn't just plain awful, it just was just OK, and honestly I believe it got played mostly because stations just sort of felt obligated to play it. You know, for the world.
Meanwhile, the European version was not only original, it blended the various artists very nicely. One thing I believe that helped Christmas was the fact that all of the singers were essentially of the same genre, which also was the same as the song itself.

Trivia: Groupies loved Huey Lewis and one reason was he had one of the largest schlongs in rock music.

Dan Akroyd still beats them all. Hes somewhere back there.

"be twice as good and work three times as hard to get where they are"... "they" being white people.
I needed that explanation because I thought they were discussing the oppression of women. They got around to letting me know it was the oppression of black, billionaire, homosexual pedophiles.
Such a downtrodden group.

Multitrack recording was limited to 24 track analog back then so a song with so many different parts including the instruments, tracks had to be combined.
Well they could've SMPTE'd multiple analog 24 track machines together. And 2" reels of Agfa, Ampex or Scotch tape at 30 ips would've been amazingly expensive.
And like you said, dealing with those egos would've been a nightmare. Wasn't it Quincy Jones that produced it? He was a master at that.

This song reminds me of the Old Aid song in Married With Children.

Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were the GOAT on WATW.
...but yeah, overall the song sucked bigtime.

Still a better song, and had some authentic heart behind it. WATW was just overproduced Hollywood crap.

Huey Lewis was well in his 40s by the time he hit it big in the early 1980s.
WATW was recorded to make the music industry feel good about helping or trying to help feed the starving in Ethiopia at the time. I am certain most here know that already. Sam Kinison gave some good advice on the subject, too. ;)
