I can still remember when I played with LEGOs.

California homes have no character. They are boxes with boxey boring windows.
And most are 1 story. I just don't get it.

Fun fact about wealthy Californians. They bemoan housing costs and the "housing shortage", and will white knight for the poor and "unhoused"...they just don't want them anywhere near them. Palo Alto has hardly any areas zoned for multifamily and they fight any expansion of it.
quote:
Overall land breakdown: Of the total land area within Palo Alto, nearly two-thirds (64.28%) is designated residential.
Within residentially zoned land: Only 11.36% allows multi-family dwellings (such as apartments or condos), while the remainder is largely dedicated to single-family homes, two-unit dwellings, accessory units, and mobile home parks .
The proportion of all land in Palo Alto zoned for multi-family use (not just within residential land), that can be estimated as about 64.28% × 11.36% ˜ 7.3% of the city’s total area designated for multi-family residential.

Also, judging by Google Streetview, that is new construction. So they had a blank canvas and that's the design they went with.

Bingo, they love low income housing and feel morally superior voicing that opinion...they just love it in your neighborhood.

I’m more surprised they included a garage in the first place instead of a bike shed.

$11,438 property tax?!? What a deal on a $11MM property. I pay 2.5x that in Houston!

Not sure if you're joking, but it's $11,438 per month. So $137,000 per year.

I've always wanted a kitchenette right off my kitchen

It’s a prep kitchen/scullery. We have one, albeit smaller. Houses with really open kitchens have them. Nice to do some stuff away from the living area.
I’m a builder and it’s the new “thing” that people are doing with really open floor plans.

That's what it was, not what it will be.

Palo Alto? That place is in the boondocks. 11 mil I was thinking much closer to SF.
Posted on 7/17/25 at 5:31 pm to rickgrimes
The monthly estimate is only $75k.
