I moved my family from uptown NOLA to West Palm Beach in 2001. tGOAT decision of my life. We love it here. Louisiana can’t get out if its own way. It sucks but you have to look out for your family.

I moved out of LA the day before my senior year of high school. Sounds terrible, but best thing my parents ever did for me.
While I didn't move to Tampa, get out any way you can LA is a dump, you won't realize it until you leave it.

What sites have you been using to look for jobs? Are you an operator?

And yet, you’re here. Single and lonely and trying to figure out what bar you can go to to find a drunk MILF.
Sounds like you should be in Tampa.

Yeah, don't go east. Unless you want to live in a suburban shitshow.
North's not bad.

I lived in the Tampa area for a while and couldn't wait to get back to Louisiana. Louisiana is a much better place to raise a family in my opinion. Be prepared for lots of rude yankee transplants, crazy people, and snow birds. They arent very tolerant of children unlike here where people love children. Best of luck to you and I hope you enjoy it but just be prepared for dealing a different type of people than you are used to.

Why Tampa? There are plenty of nice places, outside of LC, that’s just a drive away from your family. I mean if you’re going to move to Tampa might as well go to Montana where it’s beautiful.

If you are going to move over there, I wouldn't move to Tampa. I'd move to St. Pete or further south to Sarasota.

This seems to be a very common theme for a lot of childhood friends that are constantly talking about leaving Louisiana and yet after 25 years they are still talking about it but still living in LA.
Yep, I’d be out of this fricker in a heartbeat, but my wife wouldn’t want to leave her family, and we have a newborn…

Plus it's a 2 hour flight away.
I love when people say this, when its actually an entire day of travelling no matter how long the actual flight is.

Not all suburban areas are the same and unless you go even further east than I was referring to (Brandon/Riverview/Fish Hawk area) to Plant City or Lakeland where you can buy some somewhat affordable land, it's all suburbia.

In early 2020, I flew to Atlanta, had a meeting with a client, and flew back home in the same day
Other times I’ve caught direct flights to Denver and NYC, and arrived before noon

I never understood why people stay "because they don't want to leave thier family" when you /they can visit anytime.
So people with a family stay to raise a child to have a likely lower quality of life with higher cost of living, worst job market, lower pay, poor schools, higher crime, overall dirty area, just to be close to family.
