Louisiana has been good to me but as soon as my stepsons are off to college we're out. I have an almost 3 yr old now and I don't want to bring him up here. Crime has gotten so bad in every town of any decent size. You can move to the nicer parts of the city or live in the rural areas but you still have to share the "things to do" in the cities with riff raff arse people.

Louisiana's economy sucks. Why don't they do something about it.

Hey look it’s another weekly “why I hate Louisiana thread”.

Your Netflix, chain restaurants, chain stores, and cookie cutter suburbs are sooo much better let’s go to a LSU message board and brag.

Unless you are living in a high rise in the city (who would want to do that today), or on a beach, or in a scenic place like Alaska or Montana then all you have done is trade in a 2017 Ford Taurus for a 2018 Ford Taurus. Yeah….so much better.

What is sad is people wasting their vacation coming to Louisiana. I can use one week of my vacation and go to where you live and I will do more in 5 days than you will do in two years living there.

Didn't read thread, but if you're a Democratic, stay the heck out of Florida.

Bingo. Plus I have an alligator in the back yard.

There is so little crime here. You go to Home Depot and park in between a Rolls and Maserati. It is just very different. Not saying the general population is friendlier, because they are not. But with money comes a certain respect for property and life, which was lacking in 70805, the BR zip code I grew up in.

I lived in Tampa for several years. It was quite beautiful. Constant vistas of sun-spangled water. The culture is hard to synopsize, a strange fusion of the South and the East Coast. But overall the people were friendly enough.

I took my 13 year old granddaughter out to eat this morning, she is living in La but has been with me for a year and a half. She spent about half her life here, and was lamenting having to go back for school this year. It is a different world once you leave if you move to a different region. In some respects it might be worse, but the people are a totally different breed.

La was the most negative place I have lived by a long shot. The people live like there's no hope to ever change the status quo, and accept a lot of negativity. But my oldest daughter still lives there and she thinks it's home, warts and all. I really don't want my granddaughter to go back.

Honestly want to thank you for this. I have a ton of family and friends in the Lake Charles area and my goodness they will commit Seppuku before they would ever leave.

What baffles me is not necessarily them staying but its the fight they put up when asked why dont you move? Every single one (mom and dad excluded they know the deal) will say they wont like it anywhere else. Its amazing. Ive never met a group of people who say the exact same thing but have zero life experience outside of 337.

On the flipside every single person that has moved from SWLA to Houston or Dallas has told me personally they will never return to LA except to visit.

I dont know how the staying pros outweigh the moving pros.

Baffled.
