What do you all think of online schools offered at Alabama or Florida? I was thinking of a career change going from teaching high school to historic preservation.

The Florida program requires a summer abroad on Nantucket. This also means time away spent with family. What do you all think?

You’ll be less likely to bang a student. Good choice.

What kind of family? Like you live with mom and dad and she'll miss packing you lunches or you have a wife and kids?

These days, there is almost no stigma with online schooling versus in person. Most now have the same professors, and you take the courses in tandem with your in person counterparts.

I say do it, baw.

Nantucket isn't abroad. It's part of Massachusetts.

The Boat says his field is closed to new people. We already have enough weather "experts" on the OT.

Yup, as long as it's not from some seedy online degree mill. I finished my degree online and there is nothing on it that says "online degree". It was worth it since I was able to keep working full time +. I had a pretty gravy job and was able to do most of my studying and coursework while at work.

I wanna to be involved in historic preservation because I have a deep appreciation for southern history and the stories embedded in our neighborhoods.

There's something incredibly fulfilling about being able to preserve and restore places that hold significant cultural and historical value.

DEI studies would be my recommendation.

I understand why you’d want to do that - but why do you need another degree?

LSU used to offer a double masters in library science and history - in the library science program you’d take the archivist route (to go along with the history)

But that degree isn’t really necessary to get a job in that field.
