So a huge multinational corporation that employs 10's of thousands of people has a few disgruntled employees? Color me shocked.
Articles like this are a joke, and the fact that the NYT publishes shite like this is even more of a joke. I bet a determined journalist with an agenda could write the EXACT story and just substitute Amazon for New York Times.

Sounds like a company trying to stay ahead of the competition. There are others jobs in other companies that people can take if the atmosphere of Amazon isn't their thing.

Microsoft and Amazon work the hell out of their people. If it's our thing, go for it. You'll be highly rewarded.

Amazon fires back with DEVASTATING response

If you read the recent New York Times article about Amazon’s culture, you remember that quote. Attributed to Bo Olson, the image of countless employees crying at their desks set the tone for a front-page story that other media outlets described as “scathing,” “blistering,” “brutal” and “harsh.” Olson’s words were so key to the narrative the Times wished to construct that they splashed them in large type just below the headline.
Here’s what the story didn’t tell you about Mr. Olson: his brief tenure at Amazon ended after an investigation revealed he had attempted to defraud vendors and conceal it by falsifying business records. When confronted with the evidence, he admitted it and resigned immediately.
Why weren’t readers given that information? The Times boasts that the two reporters with bylines on the story, Jodi Kantor and David Streitfeld, spent six months working on it. We were in regular communication with Ms. Kantor from February through the publication date in mid-August. And yet somehow she never found the time, or inclination, to ask us about the credibility of a named source whose vivid quote would serve as a lynchpin for the entire piece.

Having to imagine Jay Carney delivering that message makes me want to hate it.
That said, the NYT article was very obviously a hit piece from the beginning. I remember putting Bezos's quotes, basically refuting everything that was said, in the original thread and being downvoted to oblivion.

i know people who worked at amazon, they said it sucked balls. the pay wasn't even that great for what they were expected to do.

yeah, I can't imagine caring enough about a work meeting to cry.
Now crying over work, I can see. Maybe you get fired, or you have to fire someone or lay someone off. But do that shite in your home. Its a boundary violation IMHO to cry at work.
