You really should, it is amazing the places that give you a better deal. My favorite is the Roosevelt in New Orleans. The military rate is $159.00 usually. My wife enjoys the discount at Pottery Barn/William Sonoma. And my kids like the discount with Nike.

I think that is the first and only time I have used that term on this board. It was to drive home the point, sorry your pog arse feelings got hurt.
They didn't call it deploying when I was in, we didn't officially have any theaters to deploy to. Just TDY duty to such luxurious places as the DMZ, Berlin (both sides), Panama (Noriega), and a couple of other sweet spots.
Most of what we did back then didn't get press, we went and took care of business and came back.

Nah dude, only dependas do that shite when they ask for a military discount and show their dependent IDs. I was in Publix yesterday and the lady in front of me got offended she was denied a discount. She pulled the “I’M THE WIFE OF A US ARMY SERGEANT!” card too.

Nope. I never remember to ask for a discount. If I even think about it, it's normally because I noticed that they give one out after I've already paid. Even if I did, I don't understand why someone would be irritated by it, unless they're just jealous they don't rate one.

Things I hated?
Punishing everyone for the acts of the one/few.
Know how many goddamn sexual harassment/assault “briefings” I attended in 22 years? I got it the first time: rape is bad. Can I fricking go now?
Blind loyalty. Times have changed, but there was always that toadie sergeant that had his nose 12 inches up thr commander’s arse and would follow him over a cliff.
“Do more with less”. We’ve been doing that my entire career. At some point, you simply can’t do any more with less. This kinda goes hand in hand with the toadie sergeant bullshite.
Wearing my uniform off post/base while not on duty. “Hey we have free tickets to a NFL game!” Cool, I’ll take one. “OK, but wear your fatigues so you showcase the military.” Nah, I’m good.
The idea that doing your job exceptionally well isn’t good enough. You’ve also got to rescue puppies from an apartment fire, feed the homeless, cure cancer, and knock out 12 classes per semester between deployments to/from Afghanistan and Iraq.

This one irritated me. They'd tell you all the time about how you needed to be attending classes and then when you actually go and sign up for courses they'd refuse to work with you on the duty roster or field time and you'd end up failing or pulling a shitty grade because you missed so much class.
