Olin Hall.
NLU was only like a mile from my house and had to drive through the campus on the way to OPHS every single day so i was very familiar from a wee tot with having regional science fairs at the coliseum, seeing games at the football stadium and of course, dicking around with olin hall, peeing off the top floor, etc.

sad to see it go ka-boom

Best food:(no particular order)
1. Warehouse
2. Parish
3. Does
3. Mohawk
4. Genusas
5. Delta Biscuit Co.
6. Portico

Chill vibe food/bar
1. Flying Heart Brewery West Monroe
2. Enoch’s
3. Flying Tiger Brewery
4. Cotton / Planter’s Bar
5. ( heard Hotel Monroe is very nice)

Tourist shite:
1. Biedenharn museum (first to bottle Coca Cola)
2. Chennault Air museum (shoutout to my grandpa and his B17’s RIP)
3. Duck Dynasty
4. Don’t go to poverty point it’s a huge waste of time. Boring af. Mounds where Indians lived. Ok. Everybody dead. There’s the synopsis.
5. Then there’s all the usual shite: Surge, the Mall,
6. Fishing is great at Caney Lake in Chatham. (frick that Delhi shite). Or go up to Lake D’Arbonne
7. Plenty of golf places. I don’t golf so I wouldn’t know.
8. Downtown is cool. Very artsy. Just painted the largest street mural and had a ribbon cutting last week.

DoorDash / Uber Ests works fine.

These are the top two for sure. I feel like these are the only “can’t miss” if you are there for a week.

Skyjacker.

The man that started this company is a true American success story. I worked on his new building a few years ago.

Mr. Lonnie started welding homemade rigs on his friends mud riding buggies, trucks, wheelers, etc in the 60s and 70s to jack them up out of the mud and make for better mud riding. Fast forward to present time, and Lonnie ships his parts to every country in the world, has contracts with DOD, and is probably the wealthiest man in Ouachita parish.

Another really good place to eat that I often don't even think about and just to add to that, the store next door has some damn good grub in the freezers. It is like home-made stuff. Their vegetable beef soup is off the hook but they have gumbo, red beans and rice, and beef tips. I literally bring a cooler when I come home and fill it up to bring back home.
