Sorry man. LSU would be so much better in a city with culture and things to do

You realize, Lafayette was little more than a cross-roads farming community when LSU and the State Capitol located to Baton Rouge? It's not like you can assume "culture and things to do" would have developed in the same fashion if you had located either there.

New Orleans was the only actual city that met that criteria at the time ("culture and things to do") and they purposely located both outside of it for that reason. In fact, BR was chosen as the state capital because it was "just close enough" to New Orleans. Lafayette was never in consideration.

I had always heard growing up that Nichols was supposed to be in Houma but the Parish govt chose the airport (and I use that term loosely) instead.

Baton Rouge should have been located inside a 10 lane loop that has tolls to keep the riffraff out of the way.

Yes, I understand all of that. I'm just saying today, in hindsight, it would be better for LSU to be in new Orleans or Lafayette.

The French Quarter and Casinos could be a gold mine if they were not located so close to all those criminals. Think how many good people would come to party and gamble if it was safe.

Lafayette makes no sense for LSU. None.

It makes no sense for anything other than what it is, really.

OK, let’s play.
-New Orleans should have been built where Baton Rouge is.
-Baton Rouge should have been built where Houma is.
-Need for Houma thus eliminated.
-The End

I heard that Houma and Terrebonne Parish wanted the trade school over Nicholl’s. The area needed welders , boat captains ,etc. The oilfield was booming and nobody knew what truck nuts were.

Seriously, how old are you? Based on your posts I’m guessing around 17.

NEw Orleans was the capital. Somebody messed that up badly. Lsu needs to appropriate all property to downtown and it would rock.

I’m not sure what version of the story about what Houma chose over a University is true, but this one sounds like classic Houma.

This assumes that criminals aren't drawn to the readily-accessible vices in the FQ and casinos.
