Yep

For example, they didn’t have helicopters.

How many presidents in the last few decades served in wars after WW2 other than RR and HW? Just curious

When he was 55, he went on some crazy arse expedition to map a river in the Amazon, trekking and canoeing in mosquito, disease, and angry native infested territory for two months, almost dying. It’s a pretty epic journey if you ever sit down to read about it

There have only been Clinton, Obama, and Trump who didn't serve in some capacity in the modern era (post-WWII), so, obviously, the sample size is small. Trump is effectively in a league with a draft dodger and a guy who was too young to serve in any major wars. That's pretty much his peer group in this arena, and it doesn't paint a good picture for him.

Truman served in the trenches. Kennedy's PT 109 story is famous. I don't think I have to illustrate what Eisenhower did. LBJ had a Silver Star. Nixon served in a combat theater. Ford was in naval combat. Carter was never in combat but came up through the infancy of the nuclear navy. Reagan was pretty meek compared to those guys to be honest but did his part.

My favorite President.

Meanwhile, our current president throws a hissy fit if someone says something mean about him. :wuss:

Teddy is the OB president and Bill Clinton is the OT president minus the political shite.

Teddy loved his buffalo and Bill loved his whores.

So the last 4 presidents didn’t serve any meaningful time in any major wars? Incredible

And 3 of the 4 didn't serve at all and are 3 of the worst Presidents we've had in the modern era. Incredible.

JFK, however big of POS’s I think his family became, and GHWB would shite all over a five-time deferment dodger.
No love for Ike? He wasn't a literal brawler but he was badass in other ways.

Ike and Truman were arguably bigger badasses than either Kennedy or HW, but that was starting to stretch the relevant time limit.

Not too much considering I fought in that stupid arse war he started without much provocation, but I recognize authenticity and competency versus bluster and thinly-veiled inadequacy.

Well yeah, Teddy didn't have the modern day Secret Service to whisk him away in an instant.

Teddy was amazing. Politicians today are mostly snowflakes following the winds of polling and not what is best for the country as a whole.
