For those who arent aware..
In 1912 during a campaign speech, a store owner made his way through the crowd at a campaign speech and shot Teddy in the chest from 7 feet away.
The bullet was slowed by a 50 page speech in his pocket, and an eyeglasses case. The bullet was merely lodged in his chest.
He inspected himself, realized the bullet had not reached his lung, and walked back up and said :
"I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot. But it takes more than that to kill a bull moose.
Fortunately I had my manuscript, so you see I was going to make a long speech, and there is a bullet—there is where the bullet went through—and it probably saved me from it going into my heart. The bullet is in me now, so that I cannot make a very long speech, but I will try my best.”
He then gave his speech, which lasted 84 fricking minutes. He then calmly walked to a hospital.
They determined it was safer to leave the bullet in place, so he carried it with him forever.

And...holy hell.

If Trump took a nonlethal bullet, I bet he'd finish the speech.
Toughest president since Teddy.

Dumbass Teddy ran 3rd party and split votes with Taft and let Woodrow Wilson become President and destroy not only the US but Europe after WW1.

Yep. Wilson was a fierce racist too.
He only received 42% of the popular vote and still won.
Teddy was universally liked , and its a shame.

Blame the Republicans for continuing to back Taft when it was obvious he didn't want the office.

If a president were to be shot today, he'd be whisked away in a helicopter in under a minute. Things were very different back then.

Didnt JFK get into the Navy despite being deemed unfit due to back issues? Or was that another president?
I also read that he pulled a dude out of the water to safety by his teeth.

I am not a JFK hagiographer by any shot, but what he did on PT 109 was remarkable, even if his own frick ups contributed to the problem.
