So it was basically the 1908 version of paintball?

Yeah, except instead of some fat queer with an air rifle, these were just regular guns with wax bullets.

Definitely going way faster than a paintball.

Looks like France and Finland have the only two golds. Finland produced Simo Hayha, so I guess they're just super good at shooting people. France didn't become pussies until after WW1, so this was their last big assertion of manhood.

This is awesome, no silver medalist though I'm guessing

If you die from getting hit by a ball of wax you don't deserve a medal.

It’s so cool to shoot live bullets at each other, OMG. Those gangbangers are the apex of the good times!

Did you see the protective gear worn in 1908? I’m guessing 1000 fps

We used wax bullets in SASS shooting ... try 600 fps. Anything faster and the bullets melt.

The only real protective clothing they should need are the face masks. Those dusters and slickers were often used during real duels, with round lead pills, back in the day of muzzle loaded pistol duels.

Today are actually more tough because those are wax bullets and they guarded like a sumo wrestler whereas paint ballers go without anything but a t shirt.

Slow enough that what you see in that picture is sufficient enough to keep them from dying.

It’s okay if safe and responsible gun owners duel.

I used to do this with friends using sawed off shotguns. We would remove the shot from the shell and shoot the plastic wad

And that Hannah Gutierez-Reed wasn't in charge of the wax bullets.

I’d have taken my shot with Michelle in 2012 @ Barça.
