You’re the one spinning here
There have not been 249 “mass shootings”, in the same vein as El Paso and Dayton, this past year.
And you frickING KNOW that.

I have never thought “I better not go there bc I could get caught in a mass shooting”. It doesn’t even enter my mind.

How can any grown man actually believe there have been 250 “mass shootings” this year? We just get facts from some cis gendered person with fake glasses on Twitter now?

I simply wish *both* sides on this issue would realize there is a middle ground to be reached.
The spirit of the 2nd amendment was drafted in a time where the "right to bear arms" was necessary to quickly form militias, and protect themselves from the obviously now-unconstitutional home invasions from British overlords who could take land, liberty, and money at the drop of a hat.
These guns were also very primitive -- you needed a solid 10-15 seconds to re-load and shoot again. Furthermore, they were wildly inaccurate. The war tactic, "wait until you see the white of their eyes," was coined in that time period as a means of, "don't shoot until their pretty damn close."
The weapons we have now are absurd. Who in their right-mind needs a locker full of AR-15s, that with some re-jiggering, can be bumped up to a fully automatic? What is the point? It's not for hunting.
People always use to argument, "cars kill more people than guns every year in the USA!" Whilst admittedly true, the purpose a car is not to kill people. The purpose of a gun is to end a life - whether a human, an animal - that is the main purpose.
So why not reach a middle ground? Let's regulate it!
To drive a car, you need to pass a learners permit test, have it for a year, then take another written test, along with a drivers test, in order to get a class C license. If you want to drive an 18-wheeler, there is another course and training module you have to do after that. None of these measures are unreasonable.
As for guns - could we not take the same approach? Have certain classifications for different types of guns. Small hand guns/shotguns/rifles in one category, bump it up another notch for AR-15s and other guns of a kind... the measures would not be unconstitutional as they would (a) not be unduly burdensome, and (b) These laws would be available equally to all citizens.
During this process (much like a drivers license, it's really not a problem) you would register your gun(s) once purchased, and then every year, re-certify. With online registration measures now, it'd be no issue. You'd have to certify your criminal record annually alongside it as well.
If you don't do these things? Well, same consequences as driving without a license. Go to jail - it's not that hard, especially if it means that much to you.
I wish people would realize that this is a problem, and there is no easy solution. Moreover, taking the position of "frick u, muh guns, muh liberty," or, "remove all weapons, Stat!!!" are both so, so dumb.

You honestly think there have been only 3 mass shootings in Mexico? They are on pace to have a record near 30K murders this year because of their huge cartel issue. There are stories of cops getting into shootouts with each other there. Yet you believe there’s only been 3 mass shootings there?
One of the 250 mass shootings in the US was in Pittsburgh when two different shootings injured two different people on the same night. It was counted as one mass shooting.

Cite in the Constitution where hunting is mentioned as a restriction on the Second Amendment. Also, as you type on the Internet, explain how the First Amendment applies to electronic speech since at the time the Constitution was written a pen and quill were commonplace. Also, your efforts to compare gun ownership to driving a car is a total miss, as there is no right to drive contained in the Bill of Rights.

Again, that’s not at all what I said. I won’t alter my lifestyle.
The point is, you can’t assume you are safe anywhere. You have to be conscious of your surroundings. In an age where we are more glued to our phones than ever, have earbuds in constantly playing music, podcasts, etc, people are unaware to their surroundings.
The day will come when I have kids. Unfortunately, that WalMart could have been anywhere. I am a teacher, and don’t think that school shootings haven’t impacted the thought process in schools around the country.
The people that assume this can never happen to them are the ones that won’t be prepared if it does.

nra owns it.
The NRA has been around for years, most of these guns have been around for years, what hasn't been around for years is an increasing number of nutjobs shooting up people.
And that doesn't even address my suspicions of government conspiracies involved in some of them.

Interesting that the more ubiquitous the government becomes in our daily lives, the less safe and secure we are.
Honestly both parties are to blame for that.

They were trying to bring up a response to people who say that cars kill more people than guns. But you are correct that they shouldn't even be in the conversation honestly

I would be in favor of having to prove your mental health in order to own a firearm.
and that includes a full background check with a full review of any nonsense ramblings on the incel and conspiracy theory internet
there can no longer be a presumption of stability. The internet has weaponized stupidity and many people cannot resist the decay it has caused
stupidity and weak mindedness is the cause and addressing the stupidity epidemic is the answer

Good lord take out the tampon.
You have a better chance of being killed in a car wreck. Do you cry when you enter a car?

Who would get to be the judge here? The decider? Who gets to choose what constitutes a mental state not well enough to buy a gun? How would this not be abused by politicians or government?
Do you support such ‘mental health’ restrictions on other constitutional rights? What about privileges like voting, driving, having kids?

You are more likely to die driving down the street than from a gun.
CNN and Twitter don't generate clicks from covering car accidents.
Politicians don't get votes by talking about drunk/distracted drivers or blown tires.
Turn off the screen and you will realize that life has never been better.
(And learn the real lesson here, the media and politicians get horny over these shootings, they want you to live in fear, that is how they control you)

Yep getting killed by some loser shooting up a random place is statistically almost 0. If you actually are worried about it then you wouldn’t leave your house since everything would scare you.
