re: There's 'mounting evidence' Louisiana's coronavirus restrictions maybe weren't 'justified'

The initial lockdown was needed the numbers would have continued to quickly climb without it. The real question is if restrictions were needed to be extended.

Ironic to see you on the other side of the coin now

Phase 1 should’ve happened then.

People who said this honestly never saw it coming. They thought about it and decided this was such a safe statement that it HAD to be said for the record.

Nah. A few colleges may do that, but regular school will happen for the rest
I can pretty much say with certainty it won't.

This is not over whatsoever

Also from the article...

And then there’s Georgia. Conservative Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, completely opened his state on April 24. And even before that, Kemp did not order the severe restrictions we saw imposed in Louisiana by Edwards. Since late April, Georgia has dramatically increased testing and yet COVID-19 cases are down 20%. Georgia’s death rate per 100,000 stands at 16, less than a third of Louisiana’s. Louisiana has done more testing than Georgia.

How do you think it would have played out in Louisiana if nothing was done?
Posted on 5/24/20 at 8:38 am to Dizz
A lot more people still working.

A lot of people would have gotten sick, and a lot of people would have gotten better.

i still honestly believe some people believe that we can't go back and analyze the response. these people also love to ignorantly support "science" as an ego driver and way to distinguish themselves from "science deniers"
but yeah that was one of the stupidest "arguments" in this whole mess, and the smugness it was said with months ago it gross

Not much different than how it’s currently playing out. Some really old people would have died. Nursing homes would be shitty places to be just like they’ve been forever. Some people would have choose to stay home out of caution.

LA had a legitimate threat of acute hospital care issues

Private schools will. They can’t afford not to

Private schools will go back, and continue to prove why they build better people than the public schools in Louisiana

Let's be honest, close to hundreds of thousands infected were roaming around in US when quarantine started.
Locking asymtomatic or mildly symptomatic healthy people with frail relatives was a recipe for disaster.
I've been saying this since Day 1.
The data was clear how prevalent virus was and how mild it is for most.
Iceland was doing mass random testing in March with an Amgen(huge US biotech company) subsidiary.
Assholes in government chose to ignore all of that.
