I couldn’t imagine doing that

An 18 year old could easily make $20+ an hour if they are willing to show up

There are very few immigrants that come here with something like a certification as a plumber and continue as a plumber in the states.

Nah, I'm good. Easy is relative I guess. And no need to be dumb and assume I meant every non manual labor job is easy.

I'm under 40 and I sometime work with my hands. I have been told that my digital rectal exams and bimanual pelvic exams are very skillfully performed.

At least I understand what fair wage actually means, unlike yourself.

Just because something is agreed upon by 2 parties in contract doesn't make it fair. Sometimes people take jobs out of desperation and needing money. Other times someone may not understand the value of their labor.

But I get it. You think taking advantage of people through opportunity like those described above is fair just because they said yes, because you're you.

It absolutely does.

Unless youre the dipshit that works for unfair wages. Whats your "Fair wage" for unskilled, uneducated labor?

Nothing dumb about it. The thread is about skilled labor. Of course, there’s also going to those that turn it into being about unskilled laborers as well.

All it showed is you don't understand the word "fair" and somehow believe it to be an objective term, which its not.

Prevailing wages between skilled, unskilled, educated, uneducated vary greatly.

The prevailing wage for unskilled, uneducated labor from illegal citizens who aren't paying income tax is much low for reasons. And they're not arbitrary.

you either want a free market or you don’t. “Fair” pay is results driven. Not every employer runs a forced labor camp for Christ sakes. The guys that work on my sites make very good money. Very good. Money that I didn’t make until my 40’s.

this thread is about skilled labor. Skilled. The market is so short on that it barely functions

That's why you need immigrants in this country. They aren't taking peoples jobs because people don't want those types of jobs in the first place. Thats why the whole "build the wall" was dumb because it will virtually kill growth and up keep in this country. People can't see the big picture though because they are blinded by their own stupidity and forgot whose backs this country was built on.

You get your talking points from the media?

Immigration is great. Walls do not prohibit legal immigration.

But the media LOVED telling everyone that there was opposition to immigration. A lot of dullards believed them.

If the current administration wanted to increase immigration, why didn’t they change the laws?

Give it time. This is a major, global issue. I grew up around illegal immigration and have held a firm stance on it. I can't say that it might not help us as a country in the long run

Something else that would have helped is if we would have developed high speed rail for people to spread out. People in cities have less kids

High speed rail is not to help people spread out.

It only becomes cost effective when localities need to transport people from one population dense area to another.

Would not have changed anything because the nationally pushed view for women for years is to not have children.

It was far more important to push the short term goal of “more people in the workforce means more taxes and more money spent”, rather than long term stability.

With the end of the baby boomer generation coming near, that flaw is coming to a head.
