I've witnessed 100k people in Tiger Stadium attempt to clap in time with the band enough times to know how microscopic the odds of this happening are.

What if they all run in place with or against the rotation? Could we speed it up or slow it down? Like a huge treadmill

Trying to get everyone to jump at exactly the same time will always fail.

Would the difference in weight for that second that they’re in the air to the time they all come down back to the surface at the same time cause enough of a shake up in the earth’s rotation that the day gets ever so slightly longer or shorter by a second or some other measure of time?
No.
No net change
You move everyone from India and China to the US and you’ll change it very very slightly.
You typically need a major earthquake to do what you are talking

You do realize that the distances involved here are large enough that the sounds you hear aren’t directly aligned by the source clap? Around half second off.

I’m going to calculate this and get you an answer

He was a man ahead of his time (wink, wink). Congressman Hank Johnson, in his own words, to a Navy Admiral.....what a fine representative of the people.
Already referenced by others but the actual video is beautiful.

7.5 billion people, let’s say they average 150 lbs, that’s 1.125 trillion lbs
Mt Everest is 357 trillion lbs. and that’s just one mountain. In terms of mass, humans are a blip on this earth

No, but if 7.5 billion people on Earth all played Kriss Kross's "Jump" at the same time, Earth would have party planet of the galaxy locked down.

Yeah, intuition points one in this direction. People are mostly water and carbon and the are not the heaviest elements and compounds. But if all 7.5 billion were packed into a single space, how large would that space be? I have no idea. Can everyone fit shoulder to shoulder in Nebraska or Nebraska and Kansas??

Lame badger student section can't even coordinate that with spoken direction. Yes, I understand sound doesn't reach them all at the same time.

Damn, I tried to reason through this but I'm no longer a problem solver. Nebraska is 77,421 square miles in area. Consider a person takes up 2 square feet in a "person footprint". I came up with being able to fit everyone front to back and side to side in Nebraska. But I have no confidence my answer is not BS. So I'll add Kansas to line up all 7.5 billion persons and confirm they can't do shite to Mother Earth. Except change the climate I guess.
