Coyotes got our laid back cat my son rescued a couple days ago . He got away from it but has a broken foot and some puncture wounds . Well of course my wife took it to the vet and they prescribed antibiotics for the wounds and Boom , the vet referred her to his buddy who does ortho surgeries. $4000.00 He actually did our Border collie when he trashed his leg . It was $3000.00 .
I tried to tell my wife even with the surgery the cat will never be able to chase things and still have a limp but I’m the mean insensitive country blah blah blah .

Yep. Went thru this a month ago, and I still think about that dog everyday. Was my wife's best friend, and she still is crying every night. So sad. Sorry for your loss.

Every dog I or my kids ever had either got run over, ate poison, or died from some other reason...until now. We have a boxer we’re about to have to have put down. He has cancer in his back leg and is going down quickly. Have had him 10 yrs. Dreading it.

Man that's tough! I have 2 boxers with the oldest being 6. Both have been healthy so far. Really dreading the day I lose them. Just have to enjoy the time we have with them, and you will always have the good memories.

They give you many great years and then one truly sucky day.
So hard to say goodbye. Sorry for your loss.

One thing we can probably all agree on. Dog is mans best friend and cats are pure spawns of evil and need to be eradicated.

Sorry for your loss. Buying a pet is like buying a tragedy. But a tragedy only works if you have reasons to care or get attached during the journey, which makes the sad ending still worth it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. As some of you said, you raise a dog up, it becomes your best friend, and you have some many great memories with it. But it always ends with that one sucky day. The ride is worth it, though.

Really sorry you had to do that.

I'm dreading the time when I have to put one of ours down.

I came home to my dog laying on the front porch filled with buckshot. Apparently the cops shot it after it barked at a cat. Such a tragedy, the whole neighborhood loved that dog....
