Name a couple things!!!

Three come to mind:
1. Many people of all races in S La used terms like “high yellow,” without any racIST or hateful connotations.

2. No meant yes, and yes meant…. Joking, but you didn’t need a written contract to obtain consent. I will say the attention sexual exploitation is getting now is a good thing, albeit highly selective. Where are all the Epstein (who didn’t kill himself) arrests?

3. You could think homosexuality is wrong and still love homosexual people.

I was in high school in the 70s in Louisiana and everyone looked at 20 year olds dating HS girls as pervs.

Drunk, sure. Falling down drunk, not so much outside of frats.

What does that even mean?

But you can get away with it depending on your politics or race.

One of the first things I learn from a real history teacher is that there are two approaches to studying history. You have the historical approach, which is studying people, events, movements, etc. as they happened, from the perspective of those who were alive. It is about context. It is without modern judgement. Then there is the ahistorical approach, which is judging history based on modern standards. This is the approach that the "cancel culture" takes.

This is how the Chinese cultural revolution worked as well. Purging the old, traditional types and replacing them with indoctrinated young zealots is the point

I don't think the line there has actually shifted much. Passed out was always wrong. So drunk--to the extent that she basically didn't know where she was / was incoherent--was always wrong. Although some ridiculous complaints are made today, and the line of how drunk is too drunk to consent may have shifted a bit (just like the DWI line got shifted from 0.10% to 0.08%), to me this is a 'not so much change' category.

No, that was creepy then too. Forty years ago a senior in high school dating a freshman in high school was looked down upon by many. A dude in his twenties dating a high school student? Not okay (except like a 20-year-old dating an 18-year-old HS senior).

You're going to have to come up with multiple current examples of a celebrity getting cancelled for banging groupies before I think this is even a thing.

No, I've never watched it. I've read about the CR for years. My cousin married a Chinese guy whose parents fled China during that period.

The punchline is that the young zealots were themselves purged, sent to basically die on the farms once their political usefulness was expended.

Today's judgement of the past should be considered by the standards of that day.
