I love banana nut bread and she decided to make me some a few months ago. It was burned on the outside and looked like brains on the inside. Poor thing. She really is a very good cook otherwise

My wife hardly ever cooks. She makes a good smothered cabbage and Mississippi pot roast when she does though.

I'm not picky and I'm admittedly not a great cook myself. I'm pretty good on the grill. I have never told my wife a meal of hers was bad, even if I thought so. She still cooked it for us.

frick that. If you cook trash, you should expect it to go there. Most bad cooks are just lazy.

That was my dad's approach to my mom's cooking as a kid. They didn't stay married too long

Mine cooks pretty good. What she doesnt do well is meal plan. For instance she will cook smothered pork chops and that's it. A pot of meat on the stove with nothing else. I'll ask if we have any sides hiding somewhere...... nope that's all she cooked.

First married, my wife decided to try to make potato salad...boiled a 10 lb. bag of potatoes! The potato salad wasn’t that bad, but we had well over a gallon of it! We still get a laugh out of that. She has not made potato salad since.

My wife cooks so infrequently I really can’t remember anything memorably bad. I honestly can’t even remember the last time she cooked a meal for us.

I would just say that she's a fan of chicken thighs and drumsticks and I'm just not. I can eat that shite but it has to be baked for at least 2 hours.

.....asparagus quiche pie.....no meat. Yuck!!

But she dang sure made up for it last night. She cooked up a killer chicken-sausage-shrimp gumbo with mounds and mounds of her delicious potato salad. I hurt myself.

Hallelujah....Hallelujah....Hallelujah!!

As you were.

Doing this as well.

My wife made Emeril’s seafood chowder for me on a Valentine’s Day. Was delicious.

I tried to replicate it months later but didn’t understand anything about cooking. Thought if I let the chowder cook longer, it would taste better.

It was like trying to eat squishy pieces of rubber. Completely inedible and we threw it out.

Fallguy- I have the same issue as your wife. I can cook food but baking is out. Most of my baked items are suitable for the trash also. Baking is too precise with measurements and temperatures etc. Cooking is by taste, look, feel, and smell lol.
Example: we got a new stove. My husband remarked that the flame does not go to half when you put it on "medium" (middle number). I never noticed because I only/always look at the flame.
My mom loses her mind (she is a great baker) when she asks me how to cook something and my instructions include some, enough, until it looks right, and cook until done.

Not a meal, but one Christmas 7 or 8 years ago, she decided to bake cookies for the neighbors. She went to the store and bought that pre-made dough in the dairy case. She put a batch in, then fell asleep on the couch. I smelled them burning before it was a complete disaster, but it ruined two good cookie sheets.

Blue Fish Gumbo. Trying to eat our plethora of frozen fish and was horrible. My wife is great in the kitchen.

Me too, since I do all the cooking- I didn’t want to go to the store and we had instant rice, green beans, cream of mushroom soup and fried onions. I figured I could make a green bean casserole and it would be great, right? Wrong!!! It tasted like absolutely nothing. We dubbed it ‘welfare casserole’ and I swore I’d never make it again.

My wife made a dish called sweet potato chili Mac. Wheat pasta + chorizo + low fat cheese + sweet potato = the most disgusting meal I’ve ever tasted.
