People might be aware of the Beatles but there are plenty of stupid people who couldn’t name the members.

Tiger Woods
Taylor Swift
Madonna
Dolly Parton
Michael Jordan
LeBron
Beyonce

Celebs don't achieve the level of fame they did when The Beatles or Michael Jackson were at their peak. The internet kind of ruined it- there's no "mystery" anymore.

they split 5O+ years ago. That's as long as between the Civil War and WWI. It would be nice if younger people listened to classic rock, but many just don't care. After all, were kids in the '60s listening to Rudy Vallee?

I recently read an article about 20somethings who have no interest in the Beatles. One girl asked, in an absolutely wonderful bit of irony, "Did they do 'Daydream Believer'?"

Queen Elizabeth by far. She is on money in countries all over the world, multiple movies/TV/books, and has been part of history since Churchill was in office.

How many middle-aged or older americans know of this guy? Id say very few.

Americans? a decent amount, but I agree it's probably the worst demographic for recognizing Ronaldo

the rest of the world? He's a household name

There are probably over a billion peasants in India, Bangladesh and rural China who have no clue who these guys are. Parts of Africa too.

I don't think people in the US realize just how many people live in the 3rd world and just how hopelessly poor and disconnected from modernity they are. A good chunk of the world's population are effectively feral humans.

All of this is true... but that also means that those people's opinions really don't matter to this conversation.

I couldn’t pick Messi out of a lineup. I know he’s a soccer player, but that’s all I know. At least I could recognize David Beckham.

I'm sure Putin has to be high on the list. But I'd say Trump is #1.
