So where are the vast higher paying jobs all these minimum wage people are supposed to be growing into?
Management, supervisory.
Its what people have done forever. The competition is non existent, and with minimal work ethic you can rise through ranks.

Local Hancock Whitney branch lobby was closed yesterday. It was drive through only.
They did have security open the door for us so my 18 yr old could start a checking account.
They explained that one person was on vacation and another was out sick so they had to make schedule adjustments.
The assistant manager told us that they were uncertain as to whether another local branch, 10 miles away where I work, was fully open. However, they knew that a larger branch 30 miles away was completely open.
The workers were very busy, very accommodating, and absolutely great in working with my son.

Minimum wage was designed for a single FT job to raise a family and have a decent life. That was FDRs vision. They didn't tie it to inflation or any other metric, and that's been the downfall. Now, over the decades, it's been twisted into what you said. People think it's only for kids.

That was 80 years ago.
Since then, high barriers to entry, excessive regulation, foreign competition and we have allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country, which puts downward pressure on wages.
Its a government created situation.
FDR also froze wages, which led to employers offering health care as an alternative.

I guess because you have the worst 401k in the history of man kind

So every single job out there should start at this? What? All HS kids, part time workers, etc. should have this pay? None lower?
Min wage has become nothing more than a political tool of the left to get votes by offering to raise it. It’s horrible politics and pandering.
If the politicians would stop and move to showing all the positions that one can move into after only a couple of months of training or experience, this entire debacle would change. But it won’t.
No economy can survive being forced to pay cart guys, grocery baggers, etc a min wage to raise a family on. There has to be jobs that high school kids and part timers can work to support any industry.

I always see people saying on this board "it has become a political tool for the left". Can we all admit that when something become a political tool, both sides use it when its convenient?
The right tells its people that the left wants to make businesses have to pay their employees more and that they left wants to raise it to some ridiculous rates which will cause price hikes (which I guess is true to some degree), but politicians are politicians, it doesn't matter what side they are on.
The only reason at least half of them are the party they are in is because that's the party they have to be to get elected, which is their main goal. They want to be in office to have the power that comes with it, they will play whatever side they have to.

Wal Mart greeters shouldnt be that hard to find..
Seriously though.....I think the best and very important jobs that the mentally ill can do is bag groceries, collect shopping carts, sweep floors, wash windows,...there are jobs for those people but they cant get jobs bc they dont have an address, or dont knwo their SS#, or have clothes or transportation......if the country really wants to fix the labor shortage they need to fix the issues that are holding some people back from getting these jobs and stop worrying about raising the pay scale.....that is what is killing the labor pool and businesses
The problems are the increase in the prices of material and the lack of labor plus the labor you do get you have to pay them more than they are worth

Mental illness is not the primary reason for homelessness. Drug abuse is the primary reason.
Roughly 1/3rd are mentally ill to the point of it being serious.

They all have mental issues but not all of them are on drugs
So you’re wrong again as usual Roger
