The way I see it, there are 3 types of men

1) The girlie boy who identifies with his feminine side more so than any residual manly attributes that may be lurking about.

2) The Mans Man who wants to make damn sure you never confuse him with the girlie boy and goes to extreme measures to make sure you don't mistakenly identify any attribute of theirs as feminine.

3) The regular guy who may identify with the mans man but seems to be a little confused with the tactics, and is unaware he needs to disguise himself as manly.



Growing up, neither #1 or #2 existed in any real significant numbers to categorize them as such, but now there seems to be a war being waged between girlie boy and manly man for the soul of man. Girlie boy is everywhere you look in popular culture, a sensitive, well rounded little fella who dislikes gender identification and is open minded to pretty much everything. But then there’s manly man who has gone to great lengths to distance himself from girlie boy, making manly soap, growing his beard, chiseling his hair, raising his truck, and making damn sure you see him as alpha male personified. Never would he dare to wear pastels as that may mean he identifies with feminine characteristics and someone might think he’s a girlie boy.
