I have no real issue working to get Griner back in the way we would most Americans - meaning without any extraordinary concessions and appropriate given the circumstances.
The circumstances currently are that a) she actually broke a law and admits to it, b) she's relatively safe, well known, and therefore less subject to harm than most citizens might be, c) our current hostility with Russia is at multi-decade highs
So it might be a while. Any urgency to get her back is artificial - they're not going to kill her and she's not going to starve to death. Approximately 9 people might fail to see their favorite athlete play for a season or two, but, life isn't fair.
