That’s what’s up.
Attention to detail; you have it.

Also,
I’d like to see more guns and bombs and missiles and rockets.

Why do I get the feeling that anything that does move faster than killer drone is doomed to obsolencense? Tanks, helos, etc. In these present state, these things cannot survive on battlefield.
This new type of helo has it's use of course, but not in missile/ drone rich environments. Just my opinion.

Needs a nose mounted 20mm gatlin gun like the warthog has

Sounds good, doesn't work.

A 30mm M230 sure but a 30mm GAU-8 would rip itself out of an airframe built like any typical rotor wing or tilt rotor. That's even if you could stuff it in one or meet its power requirements. Plus, rotor wings have plenty of other tank-killing options.

While you could built a rotor wing airframe to accommodate the GAU-8, it would lose a lot of the positive characteristics of a helicopter and be near a purpose built gun platform and the A-10 was just better at that.

Everyone loves the Hog, but I always preferred having rotorheads on station when the shite hit the fan for various reasons, primarily the helos could loiter longer and I didn't hear the crackle of "Winchester" over the radio near as often and watch Hogs blasting off into the distance.

Notice the huge design change, the osprey had the turbine and the blades rotate. The new cheyenne, the turbine is fixed and just the blades rotate.

Good catch, I completely missed that. Hopefully less mass being moved makes for less issues.

That being said, I still don't know how comfortable I'd be on an aircraft that transitions its method of generating lift while in the air.

It’s a great platform.

The crew chief MOS for this will be 15V or 15 Victor. Blackhawk is 15T.

My son has the opportunity to be the first 15 victor in the army. He’s in discussions alongside another member of the regiment to step out of the day to day spec ops aviation world and assist Bell with the finalization of design and formulate the school all future Victors will go through.

Ya, I’m pretty damn proud of that boy.

Cheyenne is the name of the dropship in Aliens. When I was a teenager in the '80s I thought we would be using these by now.

Osprey 2.0? Wouldn't want to be in the 1st group to ride that thing.

I was thinking the same Ospreys are not know for its safety record

They have come a long way in the last 10 to 12 years. Osprey's (CV-22's) were what was preferred to rescue that WSO a few weeks ago. They just didn't have any close enough at the time. The closest ones were on the USS Tripoli. They wouldn't have had to destroy the 2 C-130's that got stuck in the stand and the MH-6 Little Birds that were in the C-130's. The CV-22's could have operated straight to the LZ.

The original Lockheed Cheyenne and it was very fast aided by the "pusher prop" mounted at the rear of the tailboom.

This could have had a lot of the same capabilities and more if they had perfected it in WW2:

Given the issues that the Osprey has had, . I'm surprised that any tiltrotor has gotten a greenlight.

I understand why they like them, but it just seems like so many moving parts to transition from vertical to horizontal and back is just asking for trouble.

Look up the statistics, and the Osprey has a better safety record than military service choppers. and that's per capita
