if you can go to big bend and not find it beautiful then you are lost
Falls just outside the line. Big Bend is a gem.

quote:the southern planted pine forest is easily the ugliest. It's just one thing. Pine trees. It's terrible.
There’s places in Mississippi that I’ve driven through that legitimately look like third world countries. Apart from the urban centers, the Deep South is by far America’s most depressing region.

With the exception of Natchitoches & Desoto parishes. Yes I agree. There’s a little stretch there that is somewhat hilly & heavily wooded. It’s pretty nice. It’s ugly as all hell the rest of it though.

The topography of a particular area is its physical shape, including its hills, valleys, and rivers.
Fwiw where I live does not win this thread.
Currently the mountains east and north of my valley are snow covered, scenic, awesome.
The creeks are roaring and the little falls serenade the homeless under the bridge.
There are so many levels of hills and higher mountains, its eye catching in all weather.
Snow level seems to be around 4,500 today. There are three tiers of elevations visible up to 8,000.
Its not roger the shrubber level but its really nice.

There are valcanoes, badlands and the edge of the escarpment in that area. They are all very beautiful , especially if you enjoy the old west. Extremely picturesque area of the US.

I'd have to go with East Texas between Houston and Beaumont.
Southeast Texas was my first thought upon reading the thread.

you caught Big Bend and Texas Hill Country with this. edit it to catch West Texas around Odessa and Midland and I'd agree.

Large area of south Alabama is nothing but pine thicket. Not a lot to write home about.

I like the panhandle of Texas. A bunch of small towns, most expansive farming in the country. Roadside dead deer capital of the world.
T. Boone Pickens has him a nice Ranch up there.
