t's not quite that easy.

He can't pay them directly. He would have to make a special gift/donation to the Treasury Department. Congress would then have to pass a special allocation to use that gift to pay the TSA workers.

There's no guarantee that would get passed. Plus it would just kick the can down the road, as well as you still have no allocation for FEMA, civilians who work for the Coast Guard,, etc

I know that. I was just responding to the smartass.

He offered to pay the TSA's salary.

It's illegal. And he knew that, which is the only reason he offered.

Is TSA required for trains? Busses? Or just airports.

In the 25 years since 9/11, the TSA hasn’t been credited with stopping a single potential terrorist attack. F the TSA.

In reality, it has mainly just been three airports really impacted by this, because the TSA employees are just calling in sick because they know they aren't getting paid currently. Majority of the airports aren't having issues because everyone is still working.

I feel very sorry for people who are flying to visit ill and dying relatives. Been there, done that on a series of Friday afternoons.
Spring break flying is a whole 'nother thing. Likewise going gambling, going to waste money in resorts, a whole lot of flying just to increase the charges on their credit cards.
Not that I have respect for every TSA agent I've ever encountered.

It's a mess that has no simple solution because the bad people are out there and one shoe bomber got caught.....by other passengers.

They've confiscated millions of water bottles and shampoo bottles over 3 oz which is essentially the same as stopping terrorism.
