Good for you. What if you got your degree, but it turned out not to be a very useful one? Some people don't know these things until it is too late.

I get overtime that day if I want to actually go in. So I'm gonna go ahead and collect my hours that day

It does for the roughly 50% out of jobs right now.

The horse people like Aspy, and cattle people like myself. We never actually take a day off. We might just feed and turn out , but it's a couple hours every day. And I mean every day even Christmas

My husband just bought a milk cow and he has to milk her twice a day. Plus he has to strain the milk, pasteurize it and put into bottles and then skim the cream off. He is getting over a gallon of milk a day. He even made his own butter.

He impresses me with his handy dandy skills like that, not to mention the dedication it takes to do that twice a day and it is getting colder and colder.

What about health care workers? People get sick on holidays. I don't want to hear any bitching.

There are many people with master's degrees who work non-managerial retail jobs. They simply can't get jobs anywhere else.

It's not as cut and dry as you are making it.

Yeah they have those jobs because they got their masters in something useless like anthropology or art history. Those people don't have my sympathy

They don't need your sympathy. They just need a new job

No degree is useless. A university is not a tech school nor should it be.

Sometimes the degree makes sense but you change your mind later. What you want in life does change over time.

Yep, funny thing is all the folks who talked nonsense about going overseas are now begging for help finding a job. Staying in Saudi for thanksgiving but taking off 6 weeks for Christmas though

There are other menial, min wage jobs that wouldn't require you to work on Thanksgiving. Hell, I think most fast food establishments are closed on Thanksgiving.
I think the idiots are the ones who take jobs at Best Buy, Macy's, Wal-Mart etc as seasonal help and then act fricking surprised when they see the schedule and then start bitching about the family time their missing out on.
But I forgot, we live in a country of victims nowadays.
