Guitarist Ty Longley
Wow that is sad. For those that can't watch the second linked video, Ty escaped the building with the band but then went back inside to retrieve a guitar and did not survive.

I do that everywhere I go if it's crowded thanks to this fire.
Same, always look for all the exits to get a lay of the land.

The Beverly Hills Supper Club fire (in Northern Kentucky, not California) is another interesting rabbit hole to go down.

Agreed, I remember wishing that had not watched the videos.
I’m glad I watched it. I am now always acutely aware of my proximity to an exit and thoroughly evaluate the safety of any event I attend with a sizable crowd.

Wasn't that one arson?

This is how I look at it. I recently went down the rabbit hole for this incident. The video is brutal to watch but it can also be used as a valuable tool on what to do in the case of a similar situation. If I'm not mistaken alot of fire departments use this video for training purposes.

Jack Russell just passed away a few months ago.

The fact Rammstein didn’t kill anyone with stuff like this is amazing.
I remember being at one of their shows at a venue years ago (I've seen them a handful of times at venues and festivals), and thinking how badly things could go if something happened. I always felt better at outdoor festivals. Of course, the crush is always a possibility, but at least the other stuff isn't as big a threat.
I've developed claustrophobia and have panic attacks in large, closed-packed crowds these days, so I don't do a lot of packed shows. Now, it is mainly comedy clubs and Broadway type shows. I don't do standing room or GA concerts anymore. I just don't have the nerve for it.

I thought you were talking about the station in Baton Rouge at first.
I was trying to jog my memory because i dont recall that.

Lead singer died a few months ago and the local news outlets couldn't help themselves but bring this up as if it they were to blame for it.

That building was a restaurant before a club, therefore grandfathered and sprinklers were not mandatory. Within weeks after this fire, Sprinklers became mandatory for any business that occupies more than 100 people That law applies in Massachusetts as well.
This is explains the lack of sprinklers. R.I.P those that suffered such a horrific death.

So you’re telling me you’re completely cool with sitting stage left in the basement room of The Stand?
I got caught in that “flash mob” fight at Mall of La like 10 years ago and had to get out through Victoria Secret as they were closing the gates. You always have to have an exit strategy.

Great White didn't have time to play their only song. "Once Bitten twice shy" and boom

Tangential, it never rains in Tiger Stadium but it has lightning delays ever so often. One time I was down on the ramps waiting out a delay with everybody else. It was of course packed. Something happened up ahead of me, a wave of panic went through the crowd and I felt myself lifted up off my feet momentarily. I stay in my seat and take my chances with the lightning now.

Never proven, but there were allegations the mob set the fire because the owner wouldn't sell the club to them.
