Same. I find it more detrimental than helpful

I’d tend to agree.

I had bad panic attacks after going down a rabbit hole on the Twilight Zone movie helicopter crash one night.

Wrong type insulation/ ceiling tiles, etc

If memory serves me, the reason for the insulation was to sound-proof the venue. I don't think the band knew about this, ergo the pyrotechs.

Desensitization isnt a good thing for the layman. It causes us to lose humanity.

I have to protect myself from my own curiosities at times.

Almost like a Cthulhu Mythos game.

Some firehouses use it as a training video

A plant i used to sell equipment to put part of station video on their contractor safety video. The place was pretty Jerry rigged from decades of business with tons of flammables.

Was very uncomfortable but as far as the safety videos it was pretty effective. Definitely paid attention to their fire escape plans

3. Even if people all exited the one front entrance, but did so in an orderly fashion, most if not all still could have made it out ok.

i remember this well. I remember seeing a show about this incident where they had a firefighter explain how people rushing an exit during an emergency is just like marbles trying to get out of a big funnel. you let a few at a time go and the marbles keep running through. you just toss a ton of marbles into the funnel and they all get stuck and nothing goes through.

That humans could get stuck just like marbles was such a wild image. God bless those folks.

The Station fire is an amazing, very deep rabbit hole if you ever just want to waste a few hours.. the videos ive seen over the years , and the descriptions of bodies stacked like corded firewood at the main front door entrance just trying to get out- those will stick with me forever .

While not as horrifying, the videos and pictures from the 1989 Hillsborough crowd crush, that killed 97 people, is disturbing to view. There's something uncanny and distressing about seeing peoples' bodies squeezed together. The thought of suffocation and crowd panic is horrifying enough, but with the nightclub fire, you also add the nightmares of burning alive, smoke inhalation, and pitch darkness. Terrifying.

I did a deep dive on that some years back, like a minute by minute chronology. Tragic and so avoidable.

Jesus. Horrible, but excellent explanation.

Towards the end of the 3rd video I posted, the sweeping fire safety changes coming out of this tragedy are mentioned

You would be surprised at the amount of nightclub and music venues that never get out of the design phase because of the costs for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems. And the clubs that do have proper fire protection do not take it serious and turn them off. The state fire marshal inspected a bar in downtown Shreveport that turned off and drained the sprinkler system, removed a line of pipe with sprinklers, and installed a truss with lights in its place.

I worked with a guy in Rhode Island who was working the bar that night. He was responsible for picking up band from their hotel and bringing to venue.

Guitarist Ty Longley was on the phone with his 4mo. pregant GF. Got into an huge arguement with her and hung up abruptly and never spoke to her again

Coworker barely got out a window before smoke and fire got him. Said he pulled multiple people out who were on fire and threw them into the snow bank to put them out.

I wish I could say I would be surprised, but sadly, I have no doubt what you say is true. SMH.

I went to a show that was in the foundation room at the House of Blues in Houston last month and as soon as I got there I found out where the emergency exits were located just in case.

I do that everywhere I go if it's crowded thanks to this fire.

4. And why even use the pyrotechnics in such a small venues?

You don’t carry the most professional crew when doing a van tour like this. The money just isn’t there for the pros versus a stagehand who has probably been drinking since 5p.

I rigged and powered some ridiculously stupid setups in my 20’s when I was just a drunk dumbass. The fact no one was ever hurt or killed is a godsend. It still bothers me.

The fact Rammstein didn’t kill anyone with stuff like this is amazing. Til got certified for pyro after an accident hurt a fan.

Also, Ghost firing off pyro at Tabernacle in ATL did have me quickly looking for exits. Let’s not even get started on the Paris attacks at Eagles of Death Metal.

That video (first link) with the computer-generated crowd simulation is very interesting. Did not know they could do those things but makes sense.
