However, 10 states pay more in federal income taxes than they receive from the government through social security, contracts and other economic activity
Connecticut fared the worst, with taxpayers seeing a $4,000 per-person deficit
Virginia fared the best, with a $10,301 per person surplus over federal taxes paid
States with low-income earners and government employees saw the biggest returns, while states with high earners tended to lose out

Imagine that. Most relatively small northeastern states that house the exorbitantly rich financial centers pay a lot of taxes yet don’t need miles and miles of interstate built nor have huge populations of uneducated, non productive citizens. Color me shocked. Also, VA being the highest surprised me greatly

What does anyone want to bet that this stat doesn't take in all the oil taxes that Louisiana generates off the coast. or even all of the plants that have manufacturing operations here but are headquartered in another state.
