My company did a bunch of layoffs during the summer and it was completely out of nowhere. I logged in one morning and and an email in my inbox saying “You are NOT impacted by today’s layoffs”. It was the single most surprising and relieving moment of my life. Had no idea layoffs were even coming but to learn I wasn’t laid off at the same time of learning OF the layoffs was a mindfrick for sure.

Yeah, I worked for an outfit that announced layoffs on a Friday. You were informed whether or not you could come in on Monday. At the gate you had to be checked off a list of people allowed on the premises. Those who got laid off had to call and schedule an appointment to come pick up their shite.
