That's true but when you're 5' 8", like I am, 145-155 just puts you in the 'normal built dude' category. Or at least normal up to the 1980's or so.

I realized how small men were when I went to the WWII museum.
33 1/4” chest seems petite, mine is 43 1/2” at 6’ am most people wouldn’t call me a big guy, I weigh less than 200.

If you go to the National WW1 museum in KC they have a bunch of donated uniforms of the soldiers from that war. They are tiny.

I am surprised that the average height of modern men isn't higher, but as others have mentioned it is probably due to immigration.

Lol. Most of the TD posters that are trying to lose weight talk about how they are 5'10" and would be "skeletons" if they dipped below 190 pounds. This country's conception of healthy weight is f'd up beyond belief.

My grandpa was a Screaming Eagle from Crowley, LA. He enlisted at 16 and his papers said he was 5'2" 125 lbs. He must have been a mean Lil fricker
Rod Serling was 5'5" and had trouble getting into the paratroopers

I'm surprised someone 5'2" got in at all

Yeah but they played high school football. So it’s ok.

One thing I have thought of when seeing modern Civil War re-enactors: Those guys must be huge compared to the soldiers that fought in the war.

I’m 5’8” and before my health cratered was 150-155lbs but I wore a 44”chest jacket and dress shirt was 19” neck. I could not wear straight leg style pants because of my thigh size with a 31” waist. I looked a good bit bigger than my weight.

When my health crashed I lost 50lbs of muscle all the way down to 92lbs. Last week at my new PCP I was back up to 138lbs fully dressed with cell phone in my pocket.

Fun fact: the #1 cause for medical disqualification in WWII was not enough teeth. Many inductees got the first dental care of their lives in the service.

I’ve seen uniforms from that war in real life and on shows like pawn stars when they are brought in. They were much smaller than I thought they would be.

I was also surprised how small movie actors were back then, they looked bigger on film.
