The shutdowns/quarantines and the affect on young people

One thing that consistently gets overlooked is how quarantining young healthy people in the prime of their life is going to breed a generation of mentally diseased shitheads, even worse than what we are already seeing in big cities. Lockdowns suck for everyone but at least adults can somewhat handle it, I couldn’t imagine being robbed of my young years when I’m supposed to be out having fun.
When these people grow up they are going to have a lot of pent up animosity towards society. Most constructive outlets and extra curricular activities have been cancelled and all they have to do is read garbage on Twitter and what they see on the news. I fear this will be the most fricked up generation of all time

I’ve see more young people outside riding bikes, running, or playing since quarantine than I ever did prior to this year.

It’s only until the election Francis.

It's been 6 months not 6 years. Chill TF out.

My son caught some of the biggest fish in his life. He also got learned how to clean them efficiently and how to fry them..among other things. My daughter has learned about gardening, painting the house and how to make casseroles. Hell, this has actually increased my kids life skills.

From my experience, all kids need these days is snap chat and video games. If not for force, my kids would only leave their rooms for food, and a bathroom.

Congrats on being a good parent but a nonessential worker.

It may affect how effectively they master the language.

my kids learned how to carry the one.

Sounds like you need to figure out a different parenting method than letting your kids only snap and play video games.

Downvote for “affect” instead of “effect”.

I did say they would "without force". My kids get out more often then not. Three weeks ago, my daughter was catching sharks on the beaches of 30A. My son is a silent gym rat, he says he's just tagging along. They both spend time in the pool when freinds are over. I do plenty to keep them from vegging out on electronics.

My kids were never quarantined. They didn’t go to school for two months but they played with neighbors, had sleepovers, went on vacations, etc.

Schooling is the single most important function of an industrial society.
Lack of socialization will be problematic long term and the school closures will bury many lower class children in a lifetime of poverty.
Idiots on both sides will continue to toe their party line.

The kids in my neighborhood have been outside playing. The older kids are playing basketball, and the younger ones are riding bikes & scooters, and the little girls play the game where they paint colored squares with chalk. I see one mom playing with her two kids in the front yards regularly. Lots of adults od all ages walking and running.
LaTech is right across I-20. When they get back to school, there will be lots of them jogging and riding bikes on my street. It's on some fun runs and bike races. Not much traffic, with some long hills.
My next door neighbor has three little boys.Oldest might be six or seven. Their yard isn't huge, but big enough to ride bikes in a big circle. They play catch, and have a hitting tee for baseball. They have a trampoline, and their dad got them a huge pool to clean off in after they get dirty. Back in March, when it was cooler, their mom was homeschooling them on the back porch.
