Mohammed al Fayed owned Harrod's and the Fulham Football Club for a long time. He tried like hell, over and over, to be granted United Kingdom citizenship, but it never happened. That is when he sold the football club. He was already out of favor after Diana's death.

Sure, but the Saudis have a major influence on the global market. They single-handedly can tank the price just by announcing they're increasing production. It's not about us having enough oil for ourselves, it's about the price being too low for US fracking and exports to be competitive. See late 2014 when they were pissed at Russia.

True story
I was working for a US military contractor in Saudi just before Desert Storm kicked off. I'm chilling on the compound up at the pool one morning (had the place to myself) when the gate opens and two dudes in suits come rolling into the pool with Mac-10's/Uzi's tucked inside their coats. They give the pool area a good looksee and one heads over to me. Asks politely if he can look through my gym bag I had with me. I give him the OK, he checks it out, gives me the once over to see if I had anything on me and then proceeds back to the gate.
A short balding Middle Eastern dude in trunks, tank top and towel draped around him waddles up to the pool and proceeds to jump in and do a couple laps. His assistants that had followed in behind him dry him off and they head back out. The whole time one of the bodyguards watched me like a fricking hawk, hand in coat. After bald dude heads out the bodyguards gives me the head nod and heads out bringing up the rear.
Later that evening I am watching some CBS 60 minutes episode and they show some pics of one of the head chaps the segment was about.It's the bald dude from the pool..........one Adnan Khashoggi.
Found out a couple days later he had been staying on our compound for a few days because it was owned by a cousin of his.
Kinda glad I didn't make a false move when "waddles" was swimming. Might have earned the swiss cheese response from his dudes.

They are lucky GHBush called on a posse to go distract Iraq and get them the hell out of Kuwait back in 90-91 because those frickers were coming for Saudi next. The whole reason Bush rounded up half the middle east, China, and Europe allies for his NWO was so that the oil and guns purchasing/swapping could not be fricked with.

Last year they signed a deal for $110B in arms manufacturing over *several* years.
During the Obama years, another $100B were sold-- but that's over 8 years.
They buy between $10 to $20B a year, depending on the system and contract they're buying in any given year.
