The trees, River, and architecture all are very nice and make the area have potential. I just could not believe how many little cheesy tourist traps there were in there. Less of the Landry group and more local bars/restaurants would make it much better

Stayed at the Omni. Nice area. I literally walked past the Alamo without noticing it around all the buildings surrounding the area.
Go up to Lockhart and get some BBQ

I like the area around the old Pearl brewery a lot more than the Riverwalk. Hotel Emma is first class.

San Antonio doesn't have much to draw in tourists
Alamo
Riverwalk
Pearl District
La Cantera golf resort
Missions National Park
Government Canyon State Park
Japanese tea gardens
SeaWorld
Six Flags
Market Square
Tower of the Americas
None of those things draw in tourists

I go there once a year but I never leave JRBSA-Randolph once I'm there, I do make a stop at Ivar's River Pub on for a pint on the way in and out of SA

God the OT is full of miserable people. San Antonio is a nice place to visit. Good food and decent attractions if you’re not a miserable person looking to complain. Wineries nearby and beautiful resorts.

My in-laws wanted to go, so I caved to be the nice guy. They wanted to ride the pontoons, ok sure. We went under a bridge, someone above evidently spat an oyster that landed on my leg-I was wearing shorts. Frick S/A

No. It’s not.
I lived in BR for 17 years (4 years raising a family). Spent 4 years in Canton/Woodstock GA and now 13 years in The Woodlands TX. BR was far far below both in quality of family life.
SA would be a likely similar improvement.

You're comparing dollars spent directly by tourists to "economic impact." The latter is subjective at best. I'd go so far as to call it meaningless.
None of this is to say I don't like San Antonio. I've been to the Riverwalk and I've been to the French Quarter, and at this point I'd much rather go to San Antonio.

It really is a nice area……when folks who champion for BR throw shade, I consider the source.

You just didn't want to go, you were never going to enjoy yourself.

Plus Shiner brewery isn't very far.

Went to the Alamodome for the first time last night to watch Elton John.
Great show, but the police directing traffic afterwards were complete fricking morons.
Absolute nightmare.

River walk has become trashier and trashier through the years. It sometimes feels like you are in Mexico rather than the US. The Alamo is the lamest attraction in the US. It is nothing. They have a mirror maze and other small attractions across the street. You will spend more time there than the lame Alamo. Overall, San Antonio is very underwhelming.

Why would you vacation in SA when you can go to Bandera, Leakey, Hunt, etc
Posted on 10/30/22 at 11:13 am to Pelican fan99
Only thIng I was impressed with on the SA river was the large cypress trees..
When walking out our hotel on the river, we we’re accosted by a an obese crazy homeless woman.. I had a better time in Greune Texas..
