I agree. I could throw my dogs outside in the front, shut the door and go inside and they would be scratching to get in. I've always front yard trained my dogs.

Homie, it ain't meant to be if it actively tries to escape the place it is being fed..
Not all dogs that like to sneak out or take advantage of an open door are looking to runaway.
Someone yelling to shut the door is also not always trying to keep in a dog that doesn’t want to be there.
You are giving dogs too much credit and ignoring their instinct to chase or investigate anyone, anything making a noise, any smell, or any car passing by on top of that hyper energy some can get initially when they get out and make it game and don’t pay attention to oncoming cars.

Latest episode in this saga - rescue lady #1 has decided to keep the dog, despite having agreed to let rescue lady #2 adopt. Sure the fight over who gets to imprison the dog will be entertaining.

Poor dog looks miserable. Probably has some sort of indoor ptsd if he is leaping from 2nd stories to escape.
